Speed Cameras France

  1. Nope, wrong again.
Foreign registered vehicles are detained at the roadside or seized and recovered until fixed penalty fines are paid / vehicle defects are repaired in the UK on a daily basis.
And often the persons seizing / fining aren't even warranted Police Officers!!
    Just saying........

  2. Not quite. They can be arrested and detained and put before the next available Magistrates court. Judges don't come into it. ( I have a funny feeling you already know that)

  3. I guess the point I am trying to make here, is that there are no big differences between the UK and French fining systems. May be minor ones, but I wouldn’t be aware. And most importantly, our two countries do exchange data when needed. EU or not.

  4. FYI 2 fines with letters hitting my doorstep 3 days after the offence from Luxembourg. Both post Brexit. IMHO UK gov shall sell the DVLA database to any person or entity willing to pay

  7. Don't know never saw them s ! ;-), it was a camera both times They are around, need to keep an eye out and pay attention to the GPS warnings.

One of my letter went along the lines of "limit was 50 you were doing 55 but you get a 3 KMH discount so 2 times blur blur equals 30 Euro. Go to this website..."

  8. We got a E750 fine (each) and a 6mnth ban for 136mph. We had to get someone to drive across with a trailer to pick up our bikes. They let us keep them in the secure lockup at the station until it arrived. I still think French Gendarmes are much nicer than ours.

  9. Just stay out of Switzerland……

  10. Wouldnt want to. Every asshole we met had swiss plates. The French are a much nicer bunch. Thats why we circumnavigate the shit hole round Gex from Juras to avoid the place. Fuck the swiss nazi c*nts. Arrogant twats.

  11. A few riders from our Germany trip a couple of years ago, chose to go into Luxembourg for a day trip. 3 of the 5 riders received fines in the post having been caught by roadside cameras. My understanding after a conversation with them, the cameras were concealed in bollards like this

  12. Lux is a great place to ride, you go for the twisty's not the straights naturally. They have some nice spots between the bends where you can give it some beens

  13. Twisties is the idea, we keep it sensible on straights, especially in France, TBH most of our French riding are on D roads, I don’t think speed traps work so well in the twisties, and with a couple of cars going past every hour probably not profitable

  14. I assume the 'D' means the 'departmente' roads. I particularly enjoy the D916 for obvious reasons. We always jump onto those as soon as we are off chunnel. Use them all teh way to Langres, then Langres or Troyes to Alps. Theyre pretty much empty and in great condition and you get to see the real France. All the pretty villages and towns. But watch out for the old lady in a 2 stroke charabang and the 14yr old hoodlums on the 50cc mopeds doing stand up wheelies everywhere. :D

  16. That’s exactly what we do. First right off the channel, and within 2 minutes you’re in glorious countryside, with next to no traffic. I always wave at the lemmings that go down the autoroute though.

  17. When I had to visit my poorly dad in Paris frequently I did about 10mins of Mway then D roads all the way to Calais, it does make me chuckle when I hear people say all the roads are boring in northern france.
