Motogp Rnd 3 - Austin Texas

  1. Are you sure? There were plenty battles going on, Binnitagainia has form if pressured but it certainly looked like a race up front to that point. Plenty going on further back.
MM, a pale shadow of his former ‘very lucky’ self. I think his luck has ran out.
Vale? An all time great. But the only reason we do not have a ‘Vale’ now is down to the number of quality riders and how close the bikes are.
Stoner? If ever ‘dull as dishwater’ was a personality description that fits, that is it. Fast but completely lacking in character.

  2. Barring world championships I wonder how many of their records still stand. Most of these kids are going faster
than ever now , just need a bit of time to catch up on the titles.
Stoner v marquez would have been great admittedly
(Stoner would have got his arse slapped imo)

  3. As an aside, anyone else find it difficult to warm to Baggy?

  4. Hes just a quiet boy isnt he like Casey used to be i think.

I thought Alex rode the most intelligent race ive seen in ages it was superb and to see Lucio and the LCR boys come out on top after the absolute shit shower theyve had to go through (since Cal left ahem) was so good to see.

I also thijnk theres a lot of disrespect for Marini.

Multiple Moto 2 race winner and has VR 46 blood in his veins.

Absolutely no chance of predicting how this season will pan out apart from the riders (deservingly) demanding extra money.

  6. You gotta embrace change, I have always been Rossi fan, but like us all age slow you down and he was well aware of the young talent coming through the ranks. The MotoGP grid has never been closer with so many talented riders before. But at the end of the day, if you find dull, then watch it!!

  7. Probably correct in all sentences.:upyeah:

  8. I don’t have a problem with change. It’s just that it’s a bit dull now. I didn’t particularly like Rossi, I thought he was a bit of a sly twat. But by Christ, he was involved in some magnificent entertainment. And he was brilliant of course.
MotoGP will come good again. Just needs a couple of nutters in there again to ruffle a few feathers.
Your last sentence didn’t make sense btw. But I think I understand :D

  9. I think this season will be another 2020 and there's no clear favourite, heck Mir could win another championship at this rate.

  10. I find a lot of people look back on the rossi era with rose (or yellow) tinted spectacles, he was involved in some horrendously boring races, not every race was v stoner at the corkscrew etc...

The only difference was he used to do some orchestrated celebration like a performing seal if he won.

Did i love Rossi? Absolutely. Do i miss that? Not especially.

  11. Not sure if anyone saw the barrage of criticism Jake Dixon got on Twitter for crashing out on the warm up lap. Pretty unnecessary and predominantly from armchair critics who probably couldn't hold a candle to even the slowest rider on the grid, let alone ride at the speeds they achieve. Looked to all intents and purposes from the playback, as though it was some kind of electrical malfunction. Shame, as I for one would like to see him bag his first win and he is at least a little more charismatic than many of the top flight boys.

  13. Hes always made himself available to "the fans" which sadly puts you in that position these days (ie open to large amounts of criticism - however invalid).

  14. When people talk about the good ole days they forget we regularly used to sit there watching half the field either fall off or get lapped.
When was the last time someone was lapped in the modern era?
It’s certainly not happened since vr46 retired.

  15. I agree, there are very few classic races from the Rossi years, and that screenshot is shocking... 6th place lapped!, the podium spread by 40 seconds... yeah I agree, awful!

I was listening to some podcasts with rainey, doohan etc though and in those days, you had privateer bikes that were 20hp down, and then had tyres 2-3 grades down also because you weren't 'factory'... no wonder the fields were spread out.

  16. Mate exactly and you’d have to say motorcycle racing talent wise and how equal the machinery is, in its healthiest position ever across all classes now and it’s been like it for a while.

Look at Pecco who’s worked his way to a factory duc seat and then they give six other riders (plus his team mate) pretty much the same machinery and he doesn’t bat an eyelid.

Rossi etc… would have been apoplectic lol

  17. Last Saturday in the sidecar race at Oliver's Mount, Scarborough. Bedlam, it was. The leader passed the back marker on the grass verge and sent a road cone spinning into the air, right in front of me. And not a feckin silly wing in sight. That's what brought Bags down, I think, those ridiculous wings on the front. Great when the bike's upright, but not so clever when it's leant over.

  18. Memories, must be 30 years since I first went to the Mount. Overtaking with sidecars, not exactly easy on that track. Real racing!
