Called the guys at pro twins this morning to pull the pin on their low mileage 5k standard at £8990. Was hoping they would fit the termis for me at the same time but I’d missed it by a couple of hours. Deposit already taken. Another vouch for their helpfulness though (I spoke to Pete and rob) and they’re going to let me know if anything changes or they can source another one for me
Hope you find the right bike you’re looking for @Red899 personally I wouldn’t get too hung up about the Termis, getting a nice clean original well looked after bike would take priority with me. You say that your last bike ran better at low down speeds with the Termis on, .. I don’t notice any problems with mine after the flapper valve has been removed, effectively the valve when it closes is like stuffing a rag into the exhaust pipe to quieten it down, runs better without it and costs you nowt to do it, ..the money you save by not buying the Termis you can put to a set of lightweight wheels or a better rear shock, you’ll get far more benefit from these. My 3 best things I’ve done to my 899 so far are… 1, the BST carbons 2, K-Tech dds pro rear shock Night and day difference to the standard shock, I mean you can pick up a standard shock on EBay for £80 or so, that tells you how good they are 3, Gave the bottom rad a good clean out… Bit of a weak design point on the Panigale’s this is to me,..it has one cooling fan stuck behind the bottom radiator and after a few years the rad gets clogged with mud, salt, tar, you name it and the fan just can’t draw any cooling air through a blocked rad, should have had two smaller fans on the radiator above, that doesn’t get sprayed with crap off the front wheel Took me 3 days to get it out, clean it and then put it back together, very much worth it though as the bike runs a lot cooler now, noticeable difference especially through towns. These coupled with the shock transformed the bike Phil, had to adjust my braking points as it was slowing down too early and the fact that a much better shock was controlling a rear wheel almost half the original weight makes the bike feel like it’s glued to the road as the wheels spend more time tracking the road and not being bounced off it. Had a great 190 miles blast out last Sunday with two mates, ..one on a Fireblade- 175 bhp and one on a BMW XR 1000 -165 bhp,…at no time did I feel like I was at a disadvantage despite giving away 2 cylinders and 100cc’s the 899 just lapped it up, 7 years on I still adore this bike !
I totally agree with @Poucher’s pointers, all of them make massive improvements. I’d also add to that list, maybe, an led headlight off an 1199S. I added one to mine (1299S) and it’s 10X better.
motives vary, last time I looked, around £1000 for the pro, possibly £1100. The other option is to buy a used electronic Ohlins from a 1299 and get it converted to manual adjusters. I did it on my R1 with an R1M Ohlins shock and did the whole lot for £550

Old shock out, new one in and re torque bolts to the correct figures, 30 minute job if that
When I spoke to Darren at MCT a while ago he said the rear o/e shock is fine but just needs re valving. £350 if memory serves. Spoke to a local guy who had his o/e 899 rear done by them and was very very happy with the result.

The clear clutch cover is enough to put me off This retailer has had some quite negative feedback from some posters on this forum and they do tend to over price. Andy
I assume you know, but it's probably because they are to**ers to speak to on the phone. But on the 2nd bike, yeah the clutch cover would put me off especially given the work to reverse on a 899
Ha I don’t actually have a problem with the ccc, I also still have the original casing from my old one if I did want to reverse it. My issue is still what I mentioned previously…. a couple of months into owning it, it’s going to need another grand throwing at it for the big service and yeh when I mentioned it to the dealer he was very much of the “meh” opinion so I went no further.
Have you thought about going halves with the dealer in effect, trying to get him to knock £400 off, then if it costs you £800 to get the desmond service done then it's not so bad
