Finishing touches to the Aprilia RS125, torqued up the Top yoke centre nut, connected front brake switch and fastened the fuel tank. Took it for a shake down test before tomorrows MOT pleasantly surprised how well it ran.
The other day I changed the oil and filter in Uncle Bazzers bike, an 1199 Tricolore. The oil filter cover had an 8mm thread cut into it. The retaining bolts/screws are 6mm so you take out the screws, put 2 x 8mm bolts in and the cover comes away from the sump housing. Simples. I’m sure I’m teaching many of you to suck eggs. So I was up with the lark this morning and into the shiite narrow garage attacking the oil filter cover. Only to discover my cover had no threads whatsoever and there was no way to get it off. Fk,fk,fkerdy fk fk. I tried a couple of things but didn’t want to damage anything because…..we’re off to Jerez tomorrow. FK ME what a palava. The holes in my cover we’re not terribly big, about 7mm so I had to source a 7mm tap or die, whatever, l never know which one it is, to cut threads into the holes in the cover. Then I put the seven mil bolts which I also had to source. 7mm is an odd size, nota lot of it about. That pulled the cover away from the body of the engine. Bloody took ages I thought it was going to be a quick thing but no nothing is simple, nothing ever bloody well fits. Now I have the seven mil Fred cut into the oil filter cover, next time it will be dead easy as I now have the seven mil bolts in a drawer. Unbelievable, two Panigale Tricolore’s, you‘d think they’d be the same but no completely different, only the Italians! It was an absolute bitch. Any road up, new Metzeler M9RR’s back and front. Fresh brake and clutch fluid all round. Fresh oil and filter. Everything torqued up, fantastic. All ready to go except the packing and connecting up the Tomtom. Last year it gave us massive problems. A proper fixed feed should solve it. So up with the Lark again tomorro, fix that, pack and off for the evening ferry. Whuhoooo! Oh, and I wanted to clean the chain. That’s not going to happen And the Mrs wants the valves in the kitchen tap changed. Bloody hell, it’ll be done before 8am tomorrow.
Took the lads Aprilia RS 125 for its MOT, it is now ready to be taxed and insured ready for his 17th. I fear he may combust before May gets here, a year riding a 50 is just far too long IMO.
Dropped the SL off in dad's van as it was chucking it down with rain this morning. Hoped it would dry up and be able to ride it back, but no still soaking. Roll on some warm decent weather
Rode some proper twisties and nadgery roads from Naas to Roscarberry in Ireland. Today we’re off to Killarney
Took a 2 1/2 hour drive, each way, to get the upper crank case from my honda cb250n superdream repaired
Had a small trip out on my 999 today. Only @40miles but my hips are suffering tonight a little. Stopped at Loomies for a brew and as usual the bike attracted a bit of attention. People wanting to chat about it and even take photos. Makes all the graft a little more worth it.
You’re right, just looked at them zoomed in and they’re all blurry, flipped the phone over and, you’ve guessed it, the lens were all smeary and could do with a clean - now done . The consequences of using it in the workshop to take numerous WIP photos. And there was me worried about composition .
I’d be more worried by the groups parking discipline for the photo shoot, it appears herding kittens would yield better results.
