I’ve a 94 916 which has been laid up for over 20 years, so I’m assuming a few stuck bolts. I’m in no hurry to sort it out but I suppose a few squirts of some stuff won’t do it any harm in the long run. what do you guys recommend..
As recommended on a thread with seized Norton rockers Deblock Oil and/or ice are your puppies - I tried on my cars brake nipples & to my amazement it worked. https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/releasing-rusted-in-rockers-not-ducati.92734/#post-1996276
Looks like plus gas is coming out as favourite. As I said I won’t be doing anything with the bike for a good while so in the meantime I’ll give all the fasteners a blast with the gas from time to time and hopefully it’ll help when the time comes. Thanks for the suggestions/advice.
Plus Gas worked on my 3 seized bolts holding exhaust Y piece together. After 7 years of heat and grit from rear tire they came out very easily. Just sprayed and left over night. Excellent stuff
I've had good results with Plus gas. That's on an engine strip down. including very rotten looking exhaust bolts. Worked well on a Monster rear wheel nut that has got a little corrosion. Give it time to soak, and whatever you use heat always helps if you can use it.
All of the sprays mentioned so far will do the job well enough , but it's certainly an expensive way to buy paraffin ..... plus a small amount of solvent , and of course , "the secret ingredient" ...... the wonderful fragrance ...... But don't take my word for it ..... " Only A Fool Would Say That " ..... If a product is offered for sale in the USA , all of the ingredients have to be listed on Federal websites , which are available to the public .
Parafin = wonderful stuff. Cheap too. Ive got a few litres of it. I filter it with an old coffee paper filter thing afterwards and re-use it. Dont tell wifey where coffee perculator went. It broke and I threw it out. Best chain cleaner there is.
