weirdly, there are more 899's registered (in theory) than 959's at the moment, I think there's around 200 more 899's at about 650, yet there are always LOADS of 959's for sale. Hope one turns up soon that ticks the boxes.
Theres a 959 "corse" with akra's on AT for a couple more grand than i was going to spend on the 899 thats been tempting me, theyre just not as rideable as the 899 and i know it will annoy me i didnt wait for the right bike.
https://www.kcsuperbikes.co.uk/used-bikes/ducati/899-panigale/158013.htm My local suzuki/triumph dealer ( Carlisle) just listed this today, no termi but low miles. Decent bloke to deal with too.
Thanks. I couldnt work out was was shouting out at me but just realised its the lack of all decals. Track farings I get (and could cope with as long as the originals came with it too) but why none on the tank i wonder?
Totally get that you’ve set your heart on an 899 but what I don’t get is why they’re more rideable as a 959. I’ve never ridden one so I was just curious as to what the (not so obvious) differences are between them. Thanks
I’ve ridden both extensively and tbh I’d say the 959 is the more rideable by a fair bit, even down to the lightness of the clutch. The 959 starts to suffer a little from dips and peaks in the mapping due to euro4 which might be what the OP means, a mapped 899 rides lovely and tbh feels noticeably lighter than my V2 did.
Hi Red899, I am loosely considering selling mine as I simply don’t ride it enough, head says sell. Heart says keep looking at it in the garage and enjoy the moments we have together on the road. No urgency to sell and I still love the bike to bits… just not using it enough. Did 2 track days last year, 2 planned this year and rest is road riding - very little miles last year. I have all original parts, most in original boxes as I have done a number of mods, I get bored in winter months and buy stuff hence the list of goodies. Might be worth a chat if you want to discuss before I go taking pictures and spec list. I would consider with mods or returned to std so that’s not an issue. it is red Has `termi’s and original cans Has a little over 10k miles. Around 10800mi think in excellent condition. Full service things I can remember buying: BST Carbon Wheels,- got from these fine forums last year. New Diablo Rosso 4tyres - new last year Brembo HPK discs - new last year Gb Racing covers - they are black and look nice blend in well R&G crash aero protection - never fitted Ducati performance indicators SITTA sprocket Kit with Ultralight Front - HHS BLACK ULTRA Hard Anodised Rear sprocket (2 up on rear). Originals didn’t need changing, think I have them as well as another gold sprocket (winter purchases, didn’t really need them) DID ZVM-X X-Ring Gold Chain Lightech R Rearsets Ducabike Ducati Panigale Upper Clamp Yoke - Thing of beauty Carbon hugger and front mudgaurd MRA double bubble smoked/grey screen Changed brake/clutch levers Evotech Rad Guard tail Tidy If I decide to sell I will likely return to std and sell parts separately but open to discussion. let me know if you want to talk live - will ping you PM with mobile.
Just found my 899 easier to throw around and hoon about on tbh mate. I did used to ride the 899 every day (work and weekends) whereas the 959 was just a toy, so maybe just a mental/confidence thing.
I posted this in the ebay thread earlier and im still thinking about it which can only be i good thing i guess?....can someone whos experienced a "base 1199" (appreciate this has lots of goodies added) explain to me what issues i might have on the road if i bought one apart from the infamous hot knackers around town (which i dont anticipate doing much of).. DUCATI 1199 Panigale ABS Termignoni-CNCMuch More | eBay To me that has more going for it (or at least the same rider aids etc) than a stock 899 which seem to be going for similar prices. Thx as always.
....and to be clear im not looking for any potential "investment" or a bike that will increase in value. Just a fun bike to ride on sunny weekends, that looks saucy as fk.
It’s a late bike so shouldn’t suffer any of the issues the first ones had with pourus crank cases etc. the only problem I’ve seen of them online is those forks I believe can be prone to blown fork seals, but again, it’s the internet you only see the bad stuff! They are marzocchi rather than Showa bpf. worth re-tourqe the rear axle if you get it, just so you know Stallone hasn’t tightened it and wrecked the bearing. Otherwise all good
I've not been on here in a long time but i was pointed in this direction by Neil at Cornerspeed. Firstly I'm in no rush to sell, as I wont be replacing it with anything so it will be priced accordingly. I have a July 2015 899 Panigale in red with 5k miles. Owned from new by me (it was a pre reg so 2 owners on V5) Bike is immaculate. I mean immaculate, no marks or chips or anything. Never seen a track, or any hard use. Tyres are pretty new from memory too. History is with Cornerspeed from new. Every year is stamped. All receipts etc. Neil will vouch for the bike if you want a independent view @nelly Bike has Termi's , Performance seat, tail tidy, and seat cowl. All the standard parts are in a my loft. I've looked at what's around for sale and nothing compares in terms of condition, history and of course the termi's. I don't come on here now, so likely best to drop me a pm if its of interest. Im based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
I can vouch for the bike. PM me if you want. I honestly don't think you'd find much better. Dom looks after his bikes extremely well. Some of the best I have thru the shop.
Patience pays off eh?! Was sure that the flirtation with the idea of an 1199 would flush the right 899 out of the woodwork
