off to the harz in couple of weeks, usually get couple of trips sorted here in the summer. then bit of 'ring' action in July and French France in August hopefully but highly recommend this place.......... https://biker-hotel-harz.de/en/your-biker-hotel-harz-mountains-germany/
no worries. been going for around 10 years. cheap as chips, great little bar in the hotel and awesome roads outside the door
Brilliant, that sounds like an ideal onward location for our trip to Cologne next month... have suggested to my touring buddy. If in the affirmative I may ask for some local route tips if you have any.
EMM (European Multistrada Meeting) in Andorra for a week in mid June, always a fun event, good bunch of people and great roads.
My wife and I shall be going to the Austrian MotoGP in August. Me on my Monster 1200R and Dawn on her Monster 821. All accommodation and ferries booked.
Sounds good - decent ride out to get there. I went last year. There was some rain in the area but it stayed dry for the racing. I just watched from one of the General Admission areas at the top of the circuit. Hope you enjoy your trip.
Hi, we were thinking of doing the Pyrenees and picos when I can muster courage, and I’d value some advice reg the ferry and places to stay after you’ve been if you wouldn’t mind ?
I think if you look in the touring section there is a thread or two about touring in this area. https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/picos-routes-needed.93213/ As for the long Brittany ferry route, just take out a massive bank loan and bend over and relax whilst they shaft you.
I recently finished a 10 day sprint around the NE coastal area and the Andorra mountains in spain on my 1260 GT. It was heaven as usual. In a couple of months I'm repeating the same time but headed south east across the alps and then down the Croatian boarder. Towards the end of summer I'm thinking of going north to Norway via a little detour in Denmark. Then probably tail off the summer with another Italy trip in the Autumn. Or maybe Spain again... My wife said I should start recording some of my trips, anyone got any experience with that stuff? I have a proper camera I take with me, more go pro. I have a fairly new one (2 years old) but only used it for downhill mountain biking
@freshage, jealous of your planned itinerary for the year. Great pictures too. A blog would make interesting reading if done well, supported by pictures, video and daily route files.
Just back from 5 day Luxembourg trip, off next week to wales for 5 days then France for 7 days beginning of June. Decided needed more riding abroad.
I am presently in Leon in Northern Spain. Four of us took the ferry to Santander and arrived five days ago. We’ve had a great time in the Picos - really fantastic roads up and down mountains, and as I write this we are in Leon. We’ve been flexible to miss the rain, but just come from Luarco having spent two nights there on the north coast. It’s a great little town with the freshest fish you’ll ever eat. Tomorrow we are off to the border with Portugal for more fabulous roads in the Douro valley. Then work our way back to Santander by next Wednesday. I highly recommend Northern Spain for great riding and great hotels and food. Later, in June, I’ll be joining @Twin for Me for the EMM in Andorra. Another guaranteed top quality riding area.
Very nice. A Ducati, some sunshine, nice roads some Metzeler M9 tyres - great ! I did Norway, as far as Oslo on my old Triumph. Went to the Kon-Tiki museum then came home. There is a huge bridge from Denmark to Sweden. Miraculously the sun shone for the whole two week trip (except the last day). Look forward to seeing some pictures for sure. Bon route as they say in French France !! Some places in Spain sound really regal - Leon, Castille. Good value in Spain, still a wild country in places. Nice one.
