899 My New (to Me) Panigale 899

  1. TBF I just did a trackday on a set of Rosso Corsa 2's from 2018 and lapped not far off my PB's with absolutely zero moments all day, I think it's more if they have heat cycled a few times and are old, these won't have!!

  2. I haven’t had it out yet so not sure how they’ll feel on the road. What’s the general consensus on which tyres run, should the ones on it get binned?

  3. I wouldn't bin em, But ride aware, warm em up and see how they behave. It's unlikely you were going to attempt knee down in the first ride anyway, so it's more a lookout or possible expense on the first service, I only noticed it as I run the same set. And they're probably due a change as I can really see the difference on compound type now. But I'm no way quick enough to really tax them as it stands in the dry. So will probably change them next year, or end of the season

  4. No, Nothing wrong with Rosso Corsa 2's, they are a good tyre, right up to trackdays on warm days, but not so much pushing on track at 30 degree ambient days, they start to overheat a bit then!

Great tyres tbh, have used them on loads of bikes. Currently trying Metzeler M9RR's on my 899

  5. RC2’s are ace for the road and very good in the wet. I have run them on track and agree with Phill.
I will buy them off you if you decide to change. ;)

  6. im interested in how you get on with the tyres, i have the same, and they aren't all that in the winter or wet, but on warm sunny days they're lovely, warm up nicely

i know fck about tyres btw

i was talking to a fellow 899 owner and he said to bin them, i think he had a metzler with loads of slits, looked almost like a wet tyre, said it transforms the bike, maybe you can be a bit more daring in the cold/wet

  7. Honestly I'm the least informed here. I've only done a couple of 1000 miles on them and they're the first miles since I came off Battlestone BT56-SS's back in 2004. I am NOT an expert. I find them - to be very confidence inspiring in the dry. The limit in the wet is my fear of grip before the tyres and that's just an age / practise thing. I used to be sliding the back end all over the place for fun back in the day... Not so much now.

I wouldn't worry. Work yourself back up to speed and see how they go.

  8. Just his height and his inside leg measurement. Plus stating how ‘Flickable’ his Goldwing is in the corners. All whilst wearing skinny jeans.

  9. Lmao

  10. Lovely bike.

Now I'm no corner demon, scraping my elbow etc, but has that thing ever been round a corner?

  11. he always called it his 'garage queen'

personally i think its tragic when bike is locked away unused, a mate of mine sold his with only 200 miles on it, 140 of which were done meeting me

luckily its got be the best looked after and documented 899 out there

  12. It’s even had the dreaded rusty chain replaced….

it’s on a 15 plate from memory so must be one of the very last registered. Watch his early video where he rides it all covered in painters protection masking tape so it doesn’t get a stone chip! I thought I was OCD!

  13. I said it on another thread and I'll say it again, they are for riding - that's what they were made to do.

I keep mine nice but f**k me you can't be cleaning it more than you ride it eh?

  14. Is he replacing with another sports bike
Dont see it mentioned on his youtoobe

  15. I’m just home for a quick ride out after work, only for around an hour or so around some local country roads. My goodness these are such a nice bike to ride, I found the throttle a tad jerky at slower speeds around town but once out in the open and away from traffic this just eats up the road. I found the tyres performed well for the little I was pushing on, it’s been a pretty warm day today so I’ll see what they’re like when the inevitable cold weather returns.

Yeah there’s a bill of sale here for early/mid December ‘15, when I was speaking to him he did mention it was the only one in the UK he could find still brand new at the time.

You probably know more about the bike than I do, I haven’t seen anything about masking tape! I’m assuming there’s a video?

  16. Made me laugh how he’d always complain about van drivers! I think he must be referring to them passing him and not leaving him enough space? :p

  19. I only did 1600 miles on my V2, albeit Covid was part of the reason, the other, was that I couldn't ride it as it just roasted me alive! Hence having an 899 again!
