Almeria May 2023

  1. I did 7 or 8 laps in my last session on the RRs. Biggest difference for me, the RRs are more tolerant with pressure. I absolutely rodgered the left hand side of the TDs, clearly having a preference for getting the power on out of left hand bends. Some parts of the circuit, I seemed to get better turn in with the RRs but for absolute grip, I'd say the TDs have a slight edge. The RRs will definitely last longer though. Totally subjective of course :D Andy

  2. That’s surprising. I would have thought that the TD would outlast a road tyre in that heat. Interesting

  3. Just thought I'd add, I suffered from hot tear which I believe was not generating enough heat to keep the pressure up. Counter intuitive I know. Andy

  4. The Racetec RR is road legal but IMO, not a road tyre, more endurance racing. Several years ago (memory fades) the RR was the IoM TT control tyre. If pushed, I'd say my all time favourite compared to the M7RR. Andy

  5. Good tyres. I have them on my s1000rr

  6. Tbf I was shocked to see Supercorsa SC’s are road legal! There’s no way you would use them on tbe road unless you had taken leave of your senses

  11. Well, that's it, 4 days on track comes to an end, flight home tomorrow :( We've had sun and temperatures in the mid to high 20⁰s every day :D From a personal stand point, my times were better on Racetec RRs and not the TD slicks but hey, it's a Multistrada and I'm not VR :joy: If I had a complaint, we had a few newbs this time and whilst most were great, there were a couple of overly aggressive nobs and a couple riders riders with all the gear (S1000RRs and race suits) but absolutely no idea. I've seen shop mannikins with more flexibility and every bend had more corners than a threepeny bit :joy: No, had a great time and have the Ducati day at Silverstone to look forward to. Andy

  13. Bloody good track day tyres. My V4S came shod with those. Rather than change them out for slicks I used the buggers til they were knackered. No complaints at all….

  14. TBF, I'm a noob. But my problem is that I am too polite and careful around the very few slower than I. We had the same issue there was a bmw with all gear and overly aggressive. FFS were in slow group pal why are you chasing times and being aggressive? Save it till you can actually take the corner. He was parking every apex and barely leaning at all. He V every bend. His bim was fast in straight line but wouldve been quicker pushing the thing round the corner. He was blocking and diving. Almost parked it into mate, which if it'd been other mate, hedve been visiting A&E not from riding but from a punch. Im mild mannered and very chilled but even I wanted to kick him in the nads.

Im going just for the fun, not times. Just to get the corners right for the thrill.

  16. Should’ve gone and had a word with the daft twat. Not taken him by the scruff of the neck, just a quiet word. It’s better for everyone, including said daft twat.

  18. Prob right Fairy.

Everyone else was sweet as. Freindly, helpful and considerate. Really nice freindly atmos.

To anyone there over June 9th w/e, I apologise in advance for being slow. I'm learning. I will get quicker.

  19. You will. I have a chuckle at some of the photos from my first track days. Bolt upright and tense as fek!! In my defence I’d just spent £16k on my dream bike - a 999R. OE fairings, mirrors, the lot… what a pillock

  20. I was anxious last yr. First really proper track day. On my newish 1299S that I'd barely ridden in 18mths due to covid. This year, i'm more prepared. Track bodywork (even if it is lairy anniversio colours) RCS and a few other QoL mods and a proper 1pc. I'll be less worried about bike as Ive concluded if I bin it, I repair it. I like fixing things.
