So what have you done today..?

  1. No rear mech on this bike @Carr01 or have you already removed it??
Bike components like mechs are getting stupid expensive  !

  2. Sitting here in serious pain from a jarred back from thursday late morning, i was visiting and relaxing with friends on the coast plus doing a little DIY for them when i twisted or other to the lower spine area, i only problem was i'd to ride the SSSSuperlight back home which hasn't help matters......i just couldn't stand when dismounting the iron horse.
Anyway i've loaded some crap on ebay as it's free listings again. I'll take my mind of it by watching the final european rugby match this afternoon at 4pm, but no doubt i'll have trouble getting out of the sofa.

  3. I can identify with that. Painkillers, lots of them. Don’t be shy about it but you’ve probably been here before anyway.

  5. It’s all there probably not showing on the photo, and with a bit of lubrication it seems to do as it should.
Chains has seized missing seat and pedals.

  6. Diazepam is a good help too.

  9. Today I joined the NC500 and rode from Tongue to Gairloch, which is about 170 miles including detours. The first 165 miles were dry but it was really tipping it down for the last 5.
I’m staying in the Gairloch Highland Lodge. It has no bar and no restaurant ffs. This probably explains why it was the only hotel in the area with a room available. It is on the south end of town which means a 2 mile walk to the chipper, in the rain, wearing a soggy bike jacket and either converse or soggy bike boots. More bad planning on my part. I believed the weather forecast. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

This pic, like all my pics, is not going to win any prizes but it does have a Ducati (mine), a bin (just for you DB ) and, way in the distance, Ben Loyal.

The hill is Arkle, not on the NC500 route, you have to head for Lairg from Laxford Bridge for a couple of miles.

Quinag, pronounced koonyach, which, despite what my photo would have you believe, is a stunning looking hill.

Gruinard Bay, there are people down there if you zoom in, which gives it some scale.
The scenery is so beautiful and biking so good that I, a life long atheist, am starting to think that there could be a god, he lives in Scotland and he’s a biker.
Tomorrow I thankfully leave the NC500 when I head through Torridon, Applecross, Loch Carron …
We’ll, gotta go because that chipper isn’t going to walk to me.

  10. Pulled my back getting ready to go out for a ride. Just in time for the ducati day at Donington on Tuesday. Brilliant

  11. Cut the grass. Washed the bike in readiness for going to Hawes tomorrow to meet up with friends. Ordered a new registration plate for the multi, registered it with the DVLA and put it on the bike. I then rang the insurance company at 2.57pm to advise them of the change only for the bastards to disconnect me at 3pm cos their office closed then.

So I’m now in limbo until Monday before I can change my policy and go out on the bike. Bugger!

  12. I feel your pain, literally. All the coughing over the last three weeks has flared up an old back issue, that I had under control. I’m on shit loads of painkillers, and am doing as many mobility exercises as I can to get it sorted, ready for next months bike trip.

  13. Oh no, not another one.

  14. great pics
    ;) nice bin shot

  16. You might think that i'm a lunatic or something as i don't do the pain killers, the pain tells me that i'm still alive and kicking, maybe when i get a little older i'll pop some pills.
A hot water bottle did the trick just behind the lower back area, getting up from the sofa was much easier but not perfect for me, plus a litttle walk around the garden this morning help movement.

    GLW yours.

  18. Tbh I’ve been on them for so many years, whenever I come off them it just gets a whole lot worse. I’ve tried absolutely everything, bar invasive surgery, which is an absolute last resort. If I can manage this with painkillers and lots of core stability training, I’ll take that.

  19. You'd better hope it doesn't rain near you, because digging at the depth you are currently, with your intentions of going deeper, you will, categorically WILL, be putting yourself at serious potential risk! The ground when wet, will not be self-supporting and will likely collapse in on you. If you surcharge the area around the dig any further, you will also highly likely overload the surrounding soil, which will probable collapse too at some point.
Dig it wider and put some form of decent support in, otherwise you will be exposing your own safety unnecessarily.
In my previous 'life' this approach often adopted by people trying to cut corners, frequently ended up badly......
Up to you entirely of course, your choice(s) :scream:
