  2. Nice to see an old thread revived! I’ve still got my Thruxton, I’m tempted to change it for a speed triple rr but we will see!

  3. Sound clip please.:grinning:

  4. I'm going to try and get a demo ride on a Speed Twin and a Thruxton this Friday. They have a Demo ST in, but not sure about the Thruxton. I did test a new Speed Triple 765 RS last week, brilliant bike but not quite enough grunt I thought (I went there on my 180hp fireblade). And it was a bit buzzy.

  5. make sure you run them in sport mode, the torque is much better and throttle response much more peppy!

let us know how you get on?

  6. So a small update…. I’ve traded my Thruxton in. I know I said I’d keep it but I’m changing jobs soon so my bikes will always be a little more for blasts and the weight and therefore suspension on mine just feels a bit limited for spirited rides.

I’ve managed to get an amazing deal on a speed triple RR having test ridden it so I’ll hopefully be ready to pick up next Saturday, they need to get it from storage and get the heated grips etc on it

  7. be interested to hear what you make of that. Why oh why didn't Triumph fit the RR's suspension to the RS?

  8. Yeah, I guess they wanted to price differentiate or give themselves an option for an easy upgrade when sales started to drop off.

  9. Enjoy. RR is a strange one. They look and sound fantastic but don’t sell all that well.
Yet those who have them seem to love them. I guess it’s not a normal Triumph market.

  10. It’s kinda strangely placed in the naked heavyweight market. Quite expensive, but not perceived as being as capable as its competitors. I’d take one of these any day over a bog standard MT10 but not sure over the SP model.

  11. yep, exactly that, I think they were overpriced tbf at £18k, I wouldn’t have bought one at that. They have a fairly small market as honestly I would be the people who love them (like I seem to so far) are people who have grown up with sportsbikes and almost starting to come back from that. I don’t get the super naked thing at all, I feel like they are all the power and madness without the control, your body weight is back and they just wheelie, but again, I’m in the minority there

  12. I’ve seen them going for 14 and change brand new, for that I think they’re a no brainier if you like the triple engine.

  13. I paid £14500 for one with extra year warranty and some other bits. I think that’s quite a bit of bike for the money (albeit I appreciate that’s a lot of money still)

  14. It's the kind of sports bike I'd aim at if I was building one of my own. Modern spec, trad look. A grown-up's superbike that doesn't look like a teenager's training shoe. But I'd fit flat bars, not clip-ons. (Because I is 56 and an auld fart and me back is knackered).

  15. I agr
I agree. (Not with the old fart comment but the flat bars :joy:).
I rode the 765RS the other day and it was a good riding position but the engine was a bit underpowered and quite buzzy compared to my Fireblade. I think the 1200 RS with the RR fairing and suspension would be my go to if it existed.

  16. Those Thruxtons are pretty little bikes. Lovely they are.

  17. I'm not in the same age camp (sorry) as I'm still JUST about clinging on to my 30's, but the bars while they don't feel comfortable just as a sit on bike, when out riding they are really not that bad. They don't drop off at an angle like most sportsbike handlebars, and you have the cruise control that you can use to release your grip etc and stretch. Also the seat doesn't tip you forward the whole time so I found a bit less forward pressure on them. They are still clip ons though I admit, just worth riding it before discounting them.
