Hi , I bought my Monster Chromo back in 98 and after years of sitting in a garage have just got it road legal again ( Well the guys at Pro Twins who are awesome!) . Trouble is i first registered it in Switzerland and can not find any old documentation to get her registered in the UK. I need a COC but have been informed that prior to 2003 there were no COC's ? Anyone have any ideas on how i go about getting myself out of this mess?
I wish you luck Sam and I stress that i am not being a 100% monger of doom, but I went down this road with a Japanese bike about 15 years ago, also Swiss. I was blocked at every turn and reluctantly gave up on that method.
Could this also be known as a CE certificate ? At work we include them in the machines manual, have you asked the dealer or Ducati U.K. ?
Not yet, I got bought it from an Italian dealer in 1998 and registered it in Switzerland. Ducati UK is going to be my next point of contact
Yes probably but that is a whole different level of bureaucracy ! Plus my Swiss is not too good, or French or German !
Not too long ago there was a thread on here about obtaining a CoC. I'm pretty sure they were not successful
You need a receipt with the amount paid on it. You need the Swiss registration document and it helps to have the actual plate. Sounds like you didn’t get a UK NOVA doc when you imported it, but that can be sorted, even this late in the process. You may need to pay VAT and duty. And this might solve your “approval” issue: If your vehicle was first registered or manufactured more than 10 years ago, you might not need approval. https://www.gov.uk/importing-vehicles-into-the-uk/getting-vehicle-approval You will need vehicle approval to tax your vehicle if it was first registered on or after 1 March 2001 with EU type approval and it’s either: If you do not already have vehicle approval, send a letter with your application to DVLA explaining why you do not have it. Speak to Ducati UK, I got one for a 2002 bike from them for 50 quid. You could also try TUV rhineland
