Hi Everybody Has anyone fitted aftermarket fogs /aux lights and used the factory fitted switch on the left hand side once it has been enabled. I believe the wiring is under the tank area ( 3 pin plug ) which should be able to power the lights but just wanted to check it won't affect the canbus . I will be using a relay so the switch won't be carrying lots of juice through it . Thanks Mick
No idea if that's possible. There maybe some identification/recognition going on for the OEM lights by the bike that won't work with an aftermarket set or even a relay. There are numerous aftermarket spotlight manufacturers with knowledge and resources to make what you suggest work yet I don't know of an offering, other than the Ducati ones, that will plugin and work with the switch. I have the older OEM aux lights on my 1260s and the ability to enable/disable them via an OBDStar diagnostics tablet.
i am 99% sure that the aux light switch circuit does not supply enough voltage to power up aux lights directly ... i seem to remember a Ducati factory mechanic friend advising me that the aux light switch only provides enough voltage to open/close a relay that then powers the aux lights. of course. that might not be true ;-)
Hi John - I just need to know if it would trigger a micro relay really . I have seen a thread on an US / Global website ( Ducati.ms ) which suggests you can use the switch to trigger a relay and power the lights. Thanks Mick
the voltage from the aux light switch might be enough to activate a relay ... also, i believe that aux light switch must be activated by a Ducati dealer that has a DDT ... but i am wrong a lot of the time ;-)
