Thread updated - next Kirky rideout 28th Sept (see later posts;-) -------------------------------- I plan to take a run over to Buckingham on the 17th. If the weather is not behaving may revert to On Yer Bike Westcott. There is a great set of roads from Benson through Long Crendon and Oving and onto Buckingham. About 39 miles distance. Those coming so far: Kirky AirConTechnical AndyB_11 Steveb123 Coman Eddie (for breakfast) Gazdoc (maybe?) Pete1950 AndyW The Duchess (maybe?) Krasti Meet at the Waterfront Café, Benson, Oxfordshire at about 10am Depart after a Tea/Coffee (or a fry-up), at 10.45am Enter into your satnav: Start at Waterfont Cafe - Oxford Rd, Benson, Wallingford, Oxfordshire OX10 6SJ Long Crendon, Oving Finish at Buckingham - MK18 1JX Return loop via some other interesting roads..... Let me know if you plan to make it.
I can't see me going down to Benson but I could meet up with you guys somewhere around Long Crendon and do a part of the ride from there. You can get a decent Sunday lunch at the Englands Rose in Postcombe and from Bedford I can pop over to Aylesbury, nail it up the A413 to Buckingham then loop round to go down the B4011 from Bicester to Thame which is a cracking piece of tarmac. I'll keep an eye on this thread and see what develops.
Would like to, but my Mutley is having new cylinder heads fitted (under extended warranty) at the moment; no chance of getting it back by 17th, so sorry but no. Have a nice ride.
I'm a definite maybe I'll meet you at the Waterfront Café, but will be going home to Stony Stratford after Buckingham. I might even have another run down the B4011, as recommended by AndyB_11; I've just tried it out after adjusting the chain and changing the pre-load on the front fork(s) - nice road -- Steve B
I usually start the B4011 at the Bicester end because of the fast sweepers before it changes into a lot of tighter bends with short straights that make you work a bit harder if you want to get anywhere fast but it's fun from either direction, I'm glad you liked it.
Sorry you've also had the coolant issue Pete. Mine was done in June (both heads) and they turned it around in less than 3 weeks while I put 1600 miles on their brand new MTS GT Hopefully you'll be back on the road soon. Good to get it resolved under warranty. Where are you getting it done? Ensure they give you a full statement of all parts replaced (oil/filter, etc.) Also may be worth asking them to set the air screws fully closed, then open a crack. Mine is now running very well.
Bobthedog took me down some of those roads last weekend - it was great fun I may meet up with you all somewhere, coming from Milton Keynes.
Cancel that, can't do the 17th but am trying to arrange a pilgrimage to the Ace Cafe on Sunday the 18th from MK...
Just like to add Ill be going to the Brackley Bike (Bucks)show on the 18th. Im sure I read some others were also going there. Or maybe there is too much rider choice that day in the area:smile:
I'm easily led astray. I'm home this weekend so I'll pester my wife to drag her skanky Triumph out the following weekend and we'll try to arrange somewhere to meet up.
I'm another maybe - of all August weeekends this is the one I am working - however I'll try and swap the Saturday... I'll confirm nearer the time...
Update: I have just got the bike back today, much sooner than Metropolis originally said. So yes, I may be good for 17th after all.
