Hi All, is anyone going to the Bike Shed Show at Tobacco Dock this weekend? I’m there with my yellow ST4S and you’ll find us in the Shed Vault so come and say hello if you are going.
It's getting very expensive visting any venue these days, some more than others, but perhaps with low capacity room it's the way of keeping the herd of sheep under control. Tangmere and the Sammy Miller museums, entrance fees at under £15.
I went a couple of years ago and the show was pretty good but equally entertaining was the people watching - at least 80% seemed to have the lumbar jack look with shirt, boots and turned up jeans with obligatory beard and the ladies looking like Betty Boo/Marilyn Monroe.
I went to Bike Shed for the first time this year and thought it was great ..... it really was 'deBolex'! Regarding the cost of venues, I think membership of the BMCT (British Motorcycle Charitable Trust' is great value if you're into museums. Membership is £20, and you get half price entry to a good selection of bike related museums (Sammy Miller, Brooklands, Tank Museum, Haynes, Beaulieu, etc. It used to give you free entry, but they've recently changed the deal.
Missed it this year My mate exhibited a recent model Gixxer in 90s clothing and got a potential sale.
What is that colour? Beige? Taupe? Whatever it is I think it should only be seen on a 1973 Austin Allegro or Volvo estate. Not a bike.
Went to the first two, didn’t bother this year. Surprised the whole Brat/Tracker/Scrambler/Bobber scene still has steam left in it. Seems it passed peak hype cycle a while ago and there’s less low interest free cash flowing around now.
Agreed, it's largely driven by the Bike Shed and shorditch tbf, as long as that place is busy and bringing in the 'influencers' then the trend will be there. There doesn't seem to be anything to replace it... Unless it's ADV stuff, if you look at the strongest sales sectors at the mo. ABR festival getting bigger and bigger we will all be on ADV's with fake mud sprayed on them soon.
