2023 Giro May Contain Nuts

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by DucatiScud, May 8, 2023.

  1. Me too on the last and first sentences, my monies on G now, but he'll need support from the team or else they could beat him up tomorrow. It's Roglic's last chance tomorrow as G will hold his own in the final time trial.

  2. 30 odd seconds in a 45 k uphill tt is easily do-able, just depends whether you think Roglic has been holding something back i guess, sepp kuss put in an unreal shift for him today. G was pretty much left on his own for the last 5-6k

  3. The determination on G's face and body language says it all for me, and yes Roglic's foot soldier deserves a bonus if he wins or loses the race.

  4. Another great day in the mountains for G and Co, and what scenery.:).....having the Giro win on your CV must be satisfying if you can pull it off.

  5. Don’t know where I read it was 40 odd kilometres

  6. I know they don’t normally challenge the leader on the last stage of a grand tour but I wonder what will happen if Primoz manages to pull it back to a second or two today…

  7. I'd a busy day today and just watched the last 15 odd minutes, gutted is not the word for G, also gutted for Sale in the gallagher rugby final.

  8. Not sure how anyone doubted the Rog after Remco withdrew. Different class and you have to take your hat off to him.
Feel a bit deflated as the weather was shite the racing was shite til the last few days and G didnt win.
Still enjoyed it more than the tdf though :bucktooth:

  9. Yeah i was just hoping G would bag the win and fly the flag for us Brits etc, if it was a standard flat TT race then perhaps things would have'd a different outcome.
He's not your usual front runner like others before him, let's hope he and his team can take revenge in the Tour of France, Already looking forward to the Alps again.....

  11. I'm waiting for the 8.30 show, but yes after a disappointing result yesterday for the Welshman, happy days for Cav in his last Giro.
The cream always rises to the top in my opinion.

  12. Usually lots of snide comments under giro posts for one rider or another over the last 3 weeks after each stage win. Don’t think I saw one after Cav took that stage.
Not many people get to be universally loved across their sport. Not really hard to see why Cav is though.

  13. It's no big secret as he likes a cuddle and kiss afterwards, always a winner amongst men in lycra.!:D

  14. I think I’ve watched more hours of cycling on tv this year than all other sports combined but can anyone tell me why they don’t put the riders names on the back of their jerseys? (Prob a bit of a noob question).
It would make it so much easier to identify riders, ergo attract new fans imo.

  15. Only thing that’s stopping JV winning the tdf has to be covid or a crash too imo.
Sublime performance at the criterium last week :astonished:

  16. The money in cycling is peanuts and they need to cover as much in sponsors as possible. it would be easier though. not sure riders would want it , some riders might sneak off in a break or move up in a crosswind and dont want to be spotted.

  17. Shall we swap the thread name to TDF

  18. Makes sense :upyeah:

Have you watched the new tdf doc series on Netflix? I'm told its pretty epic.

  19. Not yet mate, saving it for the weekend. any good

  20. I have a hate hate relationship with streaming services so no, but my best mate who’s been following cycling since the early 80’s (and has finally converted me) says “it’s awesome” and quite frankly hasn’t stopped boring me about it lol. Sounds like you will enjoy it anyway.
