  2. Will sign it, and well done for raising the issue here, although I applaud your actions we really would get more response from politicians of any persuasion, if we demanded that they fill their own arseholes in!!!!!!!

  3. I believe deeply (cynical post) that conservatives & only the righteous good in society who support them. Been ultimately the greater good should form a very large quango amassing several billion pounds, it may need to be more. To then have at least a minimum ten lunches in each county before any including over-night hotels do's not below five star standard. Before any decisions of spending on the very complex issue of assigning monies into those unfriendly counties too help the complainants have un-uncomfortable journeys going forth.

  4. Thats the problem is it’s not the potholes that need repairing it’s the roads that need resurfacing, they are all worn out, the best you can hope for is a layer of tar and chipping’s. Much like national concerns like the nhs, each consecutive government just patch over the problem thinking they will leave it up to the next lot to sort out?

  5. Lower taxes innit!

People have even fooled into thinking that’s the only way forward but the cost to the Country’s infrastructure is immense.

  6. The government is taxing us at levels not seen since the second world war, yet they seem to do less and less with the money. It's the same at local level. The more council tax increases the less work the local authority seems to do. It's the worst of both worlds: record amounts of money going in and getting record levels of poor performance in return. If the treasury and most local authorities were businesses they'd have gone to the wall long ago. But it's amazing what you can get away with when your customer base are forced on pain of imprisonment to keep doing business with you.

  8. Billions to chuck at Ukraine and the boat wankers but haven’t got a pot to piss in when it comes to funding our own countries problems.

  9. Councils are going bust, mainly the Tory ones. Have a read about Woking council. Debts of £1.9 billion.

Problem is that those earning the highest amounts pay the least tax as a percentage of earnings. As a result a high proportion of the tax paid out goes on feeding the Government debt they rack up to ensure they get re elected by promising lower taxes. It’s a vicious circle that no one in politics wants to face up to.
Approximately every £8 tax paid, then £1 of it services the UK government debt making the rich richer and the less well off poorer. It doesn’t even reduce the debt, just pays the interest.

  10. I just returned from 8 months travelling in Europe and not even in Italy are the roads as bad as they are here……., it beggars believe, here in Cheltenham and surroundings people are constantly into oncoming traffic lanes trying to avoid the huge craters, it is on a scale so big that they will never be able to catch up with resurfacing again.
I suggest you all take a holiday to the Netherlands. They are ranked to have the second best road surface quality in the world, and from experience , that is very believable, it really is outstanding

  11. Where’s the first?

  12. Nah, it’ll be a rich Arab state like Oman, Saudi or UAE…. Roads are like billiard tables. And they don’t have shitty cold, icy winters to fuck them up…

  13. Problem is UK roads were never built for the amount of traffic using them.

We have trucks using roads in urban areas that were not designed to take that weight.

  14. Yes central distribution has really led to enormous numbers of huge trucks using our roads and very little work has been done to counter the problems this has created.

  15. I was cycling along what was originally a roman road yesterday. I kid you not some of the pot holes must go down to the original roman layer!

  17. At current levels of population growth, we'll be a country of 100 million within my lifetime. Imagine how much worse things will be by then. Puts the thinking behind the 15 minute city bullshit into some perspective: lets stop people going anywhere now in the spurious name of climate change, and get them used to it so that when it becomes physically impossible for anyone to go anywhere, the plebs won't notice the difference. And if we can drive private motorists off the road, we won't have to repair the potholes.

  18. Because they’re very very important and that’s their right. Until someone in a van puts them out of their misery.

  19. What annoys me most about the really militant cyclists is that they're never middle aged ladies with baskets on the handlebars or young families out for a Sunday peddle. The bolsie ones are the head-down, lyrca-clad, wraparound shades brigade who basically use the public highway as a free race track and expect everyone else to accommodate their hobby. And when there's an accident it's always someone else's fault. Imagine if we motorcyclists started doing that...
