Just installed the Iconic Parts UK Screen Brace, Spacer, GPS Mount & Winglet Combo on my 1260s Multistrada. Took about 10 minutes total for installation. Test ride results: significant wind noise and buffeting reduction at freeway speeds.
What's the principle behind the operation of these little bits of plastic ? They mount low down, how does that help buffeting around your head ?
Yes ... buffeting is reduced. Going to test the Iconic Parts winglets on the stock full size windscreen over the weekend. Will see how much it reduces wind buffeting.
It's a shame that @iconic doesn't work with DHL or similar, since the UK left the European Union, both sending things there, and bringing it from there, is a problem if you don't do it by private courier, use the postal company, and at least in Spain, it takes an awful lot, so it has joined me that they took much longer than what they put on their website, and that now the shipment takes 10 days in the state postal company without even registering for to be able to make the declaration, pay, and be released, and in the end, I don't know if I will receive it, because the holidays are in a couple of weeks, and I think it won't arrive on time, I would have preferred to pay a little more for transportation, and receive it on time, or at least, that they give you that possibility, since the import expenses would be the same taxes.
chuki, have you contacted Jamie at Iconic Parts to see if they can use DHL to ship parts you might order? i've always found Jamie to be very customer centric.
I believe the principle behind the design is to divert some of the airflow that gets “dirty” between the bottom of the screen and the top and sides of the top fairing. But, Jamie at Iconic Parts can provide and accurate answer. All I know is, these winglets reduce the buffeting when used in conjunction with a Pikes Peak screen, and the stock screen.
These are extremely subjective calls … but to me, these winglets are a definite improvement, and reduce the buffeting.
Totally get that - just wondered from your perspective how much of a difference or reduction they made with the standard screen (which for me was in the “intolerable” bracket at anything over 40 really). Thanks again
IMHO, with the full screen, the winglets reduced the wind buffeting above 40 mph by a good 20%, if not more. now, the other parts of the equation are rider height, helmet and ear plugs used. i am 6' 2" tall, wear a Schuberth C4 Pro, and i wear the blue ear plugs that Jamie at Iconic Parts included with the winglets set up. not sure if he includes those ear plugs any more.
If I need anything else, do not hesitate to tell him, even so, mine is hopeless, I have already brought several things, some screen separators for the 1200 among them and they work very well with the standard screen, I know one meter and sixty and I reduced the buffering with a schubert c4 pro by 50% totally advisable. The previous time, there was still not so much trouble with customs, but now there is, and when dispatching with the state postal company, very very slow, if anyone knows him, I would recommend that at least for Spain, he give the possibility of sending it by fedex or DHL. However, this was added to the fact that the support was not available in stock, and it took two weeks to send them, which adds one problem to another, and I think I am going to go just to have it for the holidays
Just reviving an old thread, was there much difference between the standard screen and the PP screen with the winglets fitted? I ordered the Winglets, Screen Brace & Spacers, and wondering if I need to order the PP screen as well. If this doesn't work the bikes gotta go!
Everyone has different views on this and there are so many variables, but just my 2p; in the end I didn’t buy them - I did this instead: https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/wind-buffeting-sorted-for-me.95461/#post-2065295
Interested in these if anyone has any used sets for sale ? Just the winglets, not the sat mount combo.
