Anyone Know This Bike?

  1. Hello, does anyone know this bike please? BX62 OGE

Its generally in good condition but has some odd small bits of corrosion is odd places (not garaged at some point?). It also has an alloy oil cooler (?), some random yellow-ish carbon parts in addition to the standard ones, including an ill fitting part around the ignition barrel on the tank. Tank pad oddly trimmed by someone too.

No termis and Rear tyre is possibly original issue or maybe its second one as I dont think they make them anymore.

I believe it may have had three owners. FSH including belts, fluid and plugs, but waiting to see the paperwork.

6990 miles now. Aug19 5980 miles, so hardly used. Maybe i am fussy but it could do with some

  2. That looks suspiciously like damaged lock stops which would indicate a drop ? Andy

  3. Good point is, in this colour they’re a rare thing, only about 5 in the UK, the 2012 and 13 SF1098S sold in very small numbers, maybe 20 in total grey/red - red/red and black/black colour. The carbon ignition surrounds never fitted very well for some reason, I ended up putting the standard plastic one on. There’s some nice period extras on this one. The bike was for sale on Rite Bike only last September. I noticed the cheap radiator and the Racing map is installed but someone has taken the Termis off. It’s also a Ducati Coventry supplied bike, perhaps they can give you some more history.

Dealers are asking big money for these, Manchester had 2 in the last 12 months asking £12 - £14k and sold in a matter of weeks.

  4. Hi, thanks for the reply. What are the lock stops? What sort of drop do you mean? Static or crash? I couldn’t see any damage but suspicious of that alloy radiator at the bottom. Where should I be looking and would it be fixable?

  5. On the bottom triple clamp there are 2 metal nibs that restrict the left/right rotation so the forks don’t hit the tank or trap your fingers. They often snap off if the bike gets dropped or a thief tries to snap the steering lock. Usually they are part of the casting so not repairable. Andy

  6. Thanks for the reply. So that’s a cheap radiator and not an upgrade? Typical. Would that indicate previos damage? Lm
I was worried thats what you meant.

  7. There are also some lugs on the frame against which the stops on the yoke “hit” to prevent the movement. These can get slightly bent and often result in insurance assessment being that the bike needs a new frame…which is not always the case.
I have a Monster that had this - I simply adjusted the locknuts on the yoke to take into account the small deflection on the frame stops - handlebars do not hit the tank now.

  8. Couple of advisories too

  9. Yes I saw those. not too fussed about that. Someone has had some aftermarket levers and a fork seal needed doing. No biggie. Its the fail with the steering lock that is a red flag at the moment

  12. Interesting, how did you get that advert? I couldn’t find it

  13. Interesting that Rite Bikes are actually Superbike Factory. I just called their number and confirmed it. That is another red flag for me. Damn it

  14. I’m always interested when they come up for sale, especially in this colour, think it’s only the third one I’ve seen in many years. Looking at the dates of the MOT and the original advert date looks like it sailed through the MOT at Rite Bike ! Question, why would he sell after only 8 months ownership?

  15. I spoke to a dealer that knows him. He is mid 60s, has other bikes, Harley etc and this was not for him apprantly. I can deal with discontinued bikes that need a little TLC if they have good history and are fixable. There seem to be a couple of red flags on this one that require more info. I will have to put more questions to the owner and try and track down that MOT testing centre. A dealer is offering 6 months warranty with the bike though.

  16. Can you tell me more about the racing map? Who do you know this? That will affect the running if the skip ons have changed?

  17. Who is selling the bike ? Ducati Dealer or private seller ? The guy wanted £10k for it on Facebook.

Think Rite Bike sent me a video and RACING came up on the dash which normally means the map has been uploaded for Termi exhausts ?

  18. The chap is asking for 10k and the dealer had it up for £12400 with 6 month warranty (sale or return to the owner)
