As some of you will know when my 1098S went walkies from my garage courtesy of the local scumbags, I replaced it with the white SuperSport S. Now in every way this is a better bike and certainly more age appropriate-it’s more comfortable, it’s reliable, it starts on the button, it doesn’t cut out in traffic, it doesn’t snarl at passers by or piss off the locals in a quiet village, nor does it try & throw me off in a corner…but I miss the old girl more than I had allowed for & that itch is becoming a problem now. Surely it’s nuts to go back again? Does that ever work?
Go take a V2 Streetfighter for a test ride. Remember that is EU5 compliant so has little torque below 4500 rpm but I think you will pleasantly surprised. I wouldn’t bother with the V4, makes no sense to me to ride something that ridiculously fast on the road. Andy
Try a 1200 monster. Lovely engine. Changed mine for a v4 streetfighter, and while it's brilliant and ballistic, I'd still have another 1200s monster
I've got a supersport s also, a great usable bike, plenty quick enough and comfy. I also have a MK1 superlight, it's a lot less powerful, but every ride on it is a real occasion and a event, it is a very visceral experience a bit like the feeling you had with the 1098 I guess. Keep the supersport s and get another totally different bike and have the best of both worlds
I have a 1299S. I miss my old base 1198 so much I am considering getting another. IMHO, its the best Ducati ever (1098R excluded of course)
