1098s Tricolore, Full exhaust & race ecu - miles until fuel light comes on?

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by THJ, May 17, 2012.

  1. Just got back into the swing of riding again since the mega accident last May. Spent nearly £20 filling to tank and 70 miles later the reserve comes on.
I dont need comparrisons with other models, but can any 1098 owners give me a heads up on mileage they get before reserve comes on so I can decide if i need to tinker with the fueling etc.
    Cheers

  2. Hi man how are you, I was told you up and about, Great. Did you get another harley?

  3. Mpg?

Hi Kev, good to see you and your better half again the other day and good to see you on here. 70 miles is not too hard if you're riding briskly, I've managed mid 60's before now and only once in over 5 years have I got over 100 (100.6 on the way back from Boxhill last week). Usual figure for me with a standard exhaust with a Nemesis ecu riding solo is around the 90-95 mark.

  4. I get about 80 miles on my 848 with full termi system and PCV

  5. Thanks for info, I used to get a good 90 before warning light came on 749, so was getting a bit worried at only 70 on 1098s let alone impact on pocket due to price of fuel :(

Hi Lucas, Im in a much better place mentally now than i was Jan-April. Still gota have some major surgery on knee, but car needing repair work meant I had to use the bike in the crappy weather we are having and am starting to enjoy it again :) We will have to catch up for a breakfast at the ace in the near future.

  6. On the motorway you should get around 85 miles, on A & B road around 70-75 miles.

  7. To get the light on at 70 would be gunning it flat out on motorway type speeds. I came back from Danish border across Germany one night pretty much flat on the tank and flat out on my 1098S full system and Race ECU, 170-180ish mph, got 60 miles from a tank. Just over 20 minutes between refills.

  8. Thanks for info, im sure it used to do more than 70 before the light comes on, but it has been nearly a year since ridden her properly. Looks like my pocket is going to take a hammering from the fuel prices.

  9. Managed 90 to the fuel light on the 1098R today (with full 70mm system and race ecu)... A mix of B and A roads. 11.5L to fill up about 5 miles after the light went on.

  10. I think that's about right for reserve at about 3L and a 15L tank? Or was it a 17L tank?

  11. That's with a standard 15.5L tank.

  12. Between 70 and 80 miles - on average.... and fill up fast as they get bloody heavy pushing them! - Tric 1098S 70mm System Race ECU

  13. Especially across three lanes of on-coming Autostrada!! Eh Rod?

  14. In a contraflow..... happy days

  15. My 1098 2010-04-24 001.JPG 07 plate with akra's standard ecu would do 80/90 max
