Hi to all on the Ducati forum it's been a while Just wondering if any one on the forum was attending the Ducati UK trackday at Donington Tuesday 24th may. I was there with my monster mob 749s in garage 12 had a brilliant reception from all the riders in my garage & fellow duke owners great morning until I had a low side into to Goddards at 12 o'clock, I was bashed up pretty bad & the bike. Found out later I had broken my scapula (blade bone ) I just want to say a massive thanks for everyone in garage 12 for there help in loading my bike back on the trailer, whilst I went to AE Loughborough. & The Ducati UK representative's on the day for taking me too AE & MSV staff for there help Brilliant & the other garage's for there support in offering to help also .by the time I returned to the circuit everyone had packed up and gone unfortunately, I have had two weeks to get over the crash , and on the road to recovery, so if you know anyone that might of been at Donington Ducati track day , I would appreciate you could let them know how grateful I am for there support Hope to be back on the bike in two to three months & will be hoping to do Donington Ducati trackday next again safely ️
Glad you are on the road to recovery. That's the beauty of the Ducati days, a lot of folks prepared to offer a helping hand ..... small or big. Andy
Great to hear you’re healing well - breaking bones absolutely no fun. Have done it myself. i think it was the 23rd May by the way? And hope the damage to the bike isn’t too bad! Do you know what caused the lowside?
Hi. A few of us were in garage 8. Sorry to hear of your off and injury. I was not aware on the day of your crash. Hope your back fighting fit and back on the bike soon.
Hi dmc12 thanks for your reply & yes sorry yeah it was 23rd may , previous session a bike had lost nearly all of its oil from loose bolt on the engine casing which leaked on to the track just after the turn into Goddards the Marshall's did put cement dust down on track and all the way into pit lane , so I was constantly thinking to avoid that racing line the dust was on , was there some oil spilt on hairpin of bend that the marshalls did see & I hit it . But I think I went alittle hot into Goddards & when I was late tipping in I was on the front brake still & the front just washed out , because Goddards corner has adverse camber on it , so no warning it just went , like I hit ice no grip Hi dmc12 thanks for your reply & yes sorry yeah it was 23rd may , bike lost it's mirror's and bar end worn & gear lever bent ,clutch lever snapped, side fairing badly scratched rear fairing scratched hope the steering isn't bent previous session a bike had lost nearly all of its oil from loose bolt on the engine casing which leaked on to the track just after the turn into Goddards the Marshall's did put cement dust down on track and all the way into pit lane , so I was constantly thinking to avoid that racing line the dust was on , was there some oil spilt on hairpin of bend that the marshalls did see & I hit it . Cheers jack thank you for your nice reply & yeah feeling more better two weeks on from the incident & I don't think I'll be back on the Ducati for three months advice from the top upper limb trauma consultant , just allows me to heal & fix the scratches, & get the duke checked out . I would really like to book Donington Ducati track day next may all been well & good , I was booked for Cadwell park 27th July with ren racing classic superbike trackday hire of the three bike experience. Buts that's not going happen ✊️ All the best and stay safe on any up incoming ride outs or Trackdays ✊️
I saw the cement dust on that line running into the pit lane on the exit from Goddards - wondered what had happened there! I too have gone down on oil (at Snetterton) - absolutely zero warning and suddenly bang you’re on the floor. Nothing you can do about it - just bad luck. Hope your injuries heal up and you’re back on the bike before too long! Glad it hasn’t put you off
Bad luck or idiots having an engine leak and carrying on riding on the line into the pits? Like this chap did.
Cheers dmc12 thanks for your kind message yeah if you check out YouTube blog, name is that biker Simon he was in garage 16 and followed the trail of cement dust and oil into his garage and out the back it was from 748r with no2 on the bike the engine case bolt had become loose because they said who ever had checked the bike over before the Trackday , didn't put any thread lock on it & it lost most of engine oil in the belly pan & spilled it on the track from turning into Goddards.yiu can see it in the video I was trying each lap to stay away from the cement dust , but on my last lap I just tipped in late & might of caught a small patch right on the apex of the corner that the marshalls might not of noticed it . But carn't be sure if it was down to me late on the front brake aswell didn't hell Cheers again have some safe road and track time head , when I do get booked next yr I'll put a post on & if you attend will meet up if you want ✊️
Yeah I did think that also jack , it's on a YouTube blog by that biker Simon this YouTuber was in garage 16 and it's on his blog following the trial into garage 16 a lad on 748r no2 on the bike .loose bolt on side casing with no thread lock on lost near enough all his oil into belly pan But unfortunately that drop of oil that didn't get seen right on the apex of the corner, I went in alittle hot & tipped in late & barking while turning in also might not of helped ✊️ cheers for the message . I will do Donington Ducati track day next may if it's on similar date ️
Thank you Ducbird for kind reply & the like on my post all Best & you get back on the road on two wheels soon safe riding ✊️
