  5. Any of you chaps have experience using Redshift stems?

  6. Up and out by just after 7 to beat the heat of the day. A nice 40 miler along the Pilgrims way and back.

  7. Yes, I have one and the seat post on my other older gravel bike. Ridden with them for two years. Really like them.

  8. Do what they say on the tin?
I'm looking at adding a stem to my road bike, the roads are so bloody scabby now it's just not funny!
    It's either a new stem or a Roubaix.:astonished:

  9. Did the Pigeon beat you to the cake or is he looking fruitlessly for crumbs.:)

  10. Yes, you can change the strength of the elastomer in the stem for different weights depending on how heavy you are and how much movement you want.
I was going to try it on the new gravel bike, but that has 47mm tyres been running low pressures which is helping soak up the bumps and shite road surface.
God knows how anyone can ride a road bike on our roads these days and have any wrists left after all the impacts.

  11. Reminds me of FlexStem bitd, hopefully these don’t fail as often. But least the colours don’t burn your retina out.:)

I’ve only suffered in this way on a pusho once when I’d blown my tyres up to around 110 psi, you could try for a wider tyre if your chainstay allows it.

  12. Thanks dawg, I've just ordered one from sigma (not cheap, but cheaper than a new bike!).
I like long rides on my bike and days out, but lately it's not tired legs, but battered hands, neck and traps that have me turning for home.

  13. The reviews are all very positive and they're going out their way to distance themselves from FlexStem.

  14. Out of curiosity what PSI do you cycle with? Generally for me it 90 front 100 back on Gatorskins 23’s. From your photo’s you seem to ride aluminium which is a very unforgiving material. Steel or Carbon are far more comfortable in my experience, you could opt to buy an old school steel frame only and see if there is an improvement in comfort.

  15. You would need to to be honest I had one that didn’t fail but well, I is light of weight and touch.

  16. Bike is ali with a CF fork.
I run 25mm tyres, 90psi front and 100 rear. Which is mostly ok, it's when you get a long stretch of scabby uneven road it starts to hurt!
The bike had 23s when I bought it, they soon went in the bin!

  18. From GCN

    Rider weight 73 kgs
    25 mm tyres
    80 psi (f)
    85 psi (r)

Add or remove 1 psi per kg for additional or less rider weight

    I weigh = 103 kgs
    110 front - psi
    115 rear - psi

    42mm gravel tyres - 42 psi

  19. Dropped my 47mm down to 25psi on the rough off road today.

  20. Third time lucky completing The Camel Trail. Very nice, mainly traffic free, former railway bed, max of asphalt and hard pack material. Would do it again if part of a longer ride, but this was a family outing so bimbling was mandatory. Anyway a fantastic facility, lucky locals.
