Trying Something Different

  1. After 14 Ducati’s I have switched brands and ‘hope’ I haven’t made a mistake.
I love my Ducati’s but with no local dealer in my area now and end of warranty approaching soon I decided to try something different.
I haven’t been well so was going to sell both my bikes and have a break but thought ‘stuff it’ as I have always had a bike for over 40 years so jumped in with both feet.
Picked it up on Friday and first impressions are that it’s smooth, brakes are the best I have had on any bike. Steering feels quick and it will pull in 6th from 30mph without juddering.
Seat is the hardest I have even known, footrests seem higher than expected and bars are flat and wide.
The wings are a bit overkill but they are now appearing on a few bikes now.
Fitted a few bits yesterday so will have a go on my regular roads and see how it is.

  2. 2 bits of advice having had from new the last gen 1…

It may pull in 6th from 30 but don’t! I used mine as a big scooter and engine let go at 1100 miles. Pretty sure that was a major contributor… but don’t tell my dealer ;)

and second always wear leather, never textile. Textile above 70 is tough on the neck and you just give up riding it. Leather offers easy 90mph cruising….

Observation….wtf with those wings?! Fiver says someone breaks one walking past and hitting it….

    Enjoy the bike, great fun

  3. I well remember it letting go. And you weren't riding it like a scooter.

  4. I always wear leathers, never feel confident in jeans, textiles etc.
I don’t actually use 6th at 30mph, it would pull at that speed though.
Out yesterday and it rides great and it will me mental when the limiter is removed. Need to fathom out the suspension as it’s firm even in road mode.

  5. North East Ducati dealership opens 2024. You heard it here first ;)

  6. If you’ve used skyhook/ducati semi auto this will be a disappointment on bmw imho. It’s not as individually tuneable and always felt love it needed a setting between what was available to me. Works ok, just not as good :)

  7. Come on then Terry. Is the DMC group opening a store in Newcastle. Whereabouts ?

  8. Nope :)

  9. I have an s1000rr 2022 Keep an eye on cush drive play. Anything more than 2mm and get it swapped under warranty.
Also the drain hole at back of sump towards cats. Any blue fluid is a coolant leak. Again, new pump under warranty.
Mine is in for a new camshaft (warranty) tomorrow.
Despite all the above, brilliant engine and bike. Enjoy (but sell before warranty expires).

  10. My mate has this on his late 2022 race bike, massive sprocket play, the dealer said they were swapping them all on warranty and now BMW have decided they aren't going to any more. His honestly has getting on for 10mm play in it, ridiculous. Oh... Not to mention loads of issues when you try to run anything other than factory sprockets with the forged wheels.

  11. You can’t even rest your tea on them…..
