  1. Sadly, it's the end of an affair...

Having toured on and enjoyed a 999 about 10 years ago before swapping to a commutable BMW, I bought a mint 1098 from a dealer last Feb with 17300 on the clock when I retired. It was a heart, not head, purchase as it was/is a stunning bike, dripping in carbon fibre, with termi's, double bubble screen, Lightech rear sets etc but my sadly creaking frame isn't up to it anymore and I've done less than 500 miles since.

Reluctantly, the bike and I had the 'its not you, its me' discussion and I've decided to move on.

I've just done the MOT in Jan 2023, and (as part of the annual service in Feb 2023), I've had a new regulator / rectifier put on plus a new battery. I'd already added Ducati mirror extenders and an optimate lead, so the bike really is better than ever. There is a full service history with 12 stamps in the book; a full service with new engine belts was done in Jan 2022 when it had done 17,369 miles and it's now done 17,722 miles as of the end of Feb 2023. Good tyres and two sets of keys

Realistically priced at £6995.00 to go to a good home; the bike has had 4 previous owners.

I live on the Surrey / Hants border so please contact me if you are interested.

  3. Hi

  4. Hi Paultgo - this is really bizarre as I’ve just this second joined this forum because I take delivery of my 1098 this Friday and thought I’d see what this forum is like as new to the Ducati world. Image my shock to see my new bike is in fact your old one. Bought it from a bike dealer called Red Lodge Autos via a gentleman called Michael. Please tell me I’ve done the right thing . Joking aside, if you have some time it would be great to have a chat take any advice you may have as like I said, I am new to this and a tad nervous. No worries if not sir - just felt I should post this as so shocked to see this is my new bike. What were the chances of that. Cheers.

  6. Hi there, 'isn't life strange', as a few blokes said a long time ago...
Its a fabulous bike for doing what it does, just don't expect it to be happy around town or if you need to carry anything. Depends on your previous riding experience but the acceleration and the brakes, (especially),deserve respect. Nothing should go wrong with it; I had it serviced before putting on the Forum, but the belts will need doing next year. Michael is a good guy and his business has a solid reputation; he doesn't work far from me and I only sold to him after a lack of interest from the Forum and on BikeTrader, where I reduced the price a bit more.
Happy to chat further; btw I've got the extension to the Optimate which you are welcome to have as it will need to go on a trickle if not used regularly. Enjoy the bike and keep safe

    Paultgo

IMG_0687.jpeg Well, here she is Paultgo and wow, beyond all my expectations. The most stunning and beautiful sounding thing ever. Must be strange seeing her again but I promise to love, respect and look after her. Just need to find the courage to ride her, but when I do, I’ll be very steady as she goes.

Thank you so much for offer of the Optimate charging extension cable, but Michael (lovely fella) has given me a Halfords ‘Maintenance Charger’ for the battery so I assume I’m all good there.

Thanks again Paultgo and take care sir.
