Help Me Choose One…

  1. Having started doing track days with my SP2 I’m feeling less inclined to ride it on the road and my lingering desire to have a SportClassic has come to the fore.

I’ve found the following bikes, all at 12,500 EUR:

    - 2007, 13,000km, two owners, Termignoni exhaust and original, red with front fairing.

    - 2006 (with the dry clutch I believe), 4,600km, one owner after the original Ducati dealer owner that is now selling it, Termignoni exhaust not fitted (original double-barrel side exhaust on it) Ohlins rear shock and open clutch cover, in black. Convenient as it’s just four hours from me, whereas the others are seven or more hours away, although that’s no a big deal).

    - 2007, 4,300km, completely original (including tyres ), one owner, red with front fairings.

There’s also an outlier GT1000 with Alpina wheels and some other tasteful modifications, including Bitubo suspension front and rear, for 7,500 EUR that I keep coming back to - not much money and it looks rather cool.

I like how the tank looks on the GT1000 and I could always chuck some different bars and a single seat on for that look, probably with different rearsets in case it was in danger of being too comfy. I like it but wonder if I’d always be wishing I’d got the SC1000… The SC is very cool and the prices seem good.

I’d be interested to hear some thoughts on these options. I imagine I’d be very pleased with any of them and they all have all keys, history (or as much as you can get with so few miles), seem to be in super condition, etc. I highly doubt I’d lose any money on any of them and, for me, bikes are for fun rather than long journeys or commuting.

  4. Just to check have you seen one first hand?

I always loved these (And the MV Super Veloce) but after seeing them both in the flesh decided I would open the garage and probably wouldnt smile as expected from just the pictures.

Sorry probably doesnt help much, I dont know much about them other than looks so ill let the experts on here provide useful info!

  5. Fug it buy em all !

    IMHO

  6. :joy:

What made you choose that one?

  7. I haven't actually seen one yet. I've seen pictures of people riding them and I'd like to look that cool though. ;)

Michael Neeves told me that I should definitely get one, they are huge fun and I'd love it. He said the SP2 was the best you could get so I got one on that basis. I'm inclined to follow his advice. :joy:

  8. 2007 with Termignoni, 13,000km, 7-hour drive:

2007 unmodified, 4,200km, 14-hour drive, price dropped to 12K EUR but have to pay up to 300 EUR for it to be unregistered and a hotel for the night while funds clear:

2006, 4,600km, has Termignoni and open clutch cover, 4-hour drive, already unregistered, main dealer and would deliver to the border so actually a one-hour drive if I wanted to collect it at the border:

GT1000, 23,500km, Bitubo suspension and Alpina wheels, 10-hour drive:

Not sure about the seat on it. Looks like ST clipons?

"Modifications include zard exhaust system + custom fuel map with rexxer, MWR air filter, Sport 1000 swingarm and aluminium wheels, S2R1000 adjustable forks, speedymoto belt covers, sato racing rearsets, spirit of the seventies seat, oberon clutch slave and more"

    13-hour drive away though. Lithuania...

  12. Nice people, low mileage, totally original, super condition, original owner... it's definitely one of my favourites. A bloody long drive though, but a night in Rome as compensation.

  15. Nothing like a long road trip for the love of a good Ducati... think of it as the first bonding experience. :upyeah:
