  1. I’m going to sell my 1299 Superleggera as it’s, well, a lot.

I bought it in a slightly (read: massively) petulant splurge, knowing my already feeble skills were fading, and now- as predicted- it’s all too much for me, as I’m both old and useless. Which is a heady combination if what you want to do is cultivate a yucca plant, say, but not if you want to rattle around on a 200+bhp lion that’s been trapped in an oven whilst on its period.

The bike is, as you would expect, immaculate, and has spent most of the two years I’ve owned it in my front room (the first owner never rode it at all, and kept it in his front room too), but- I’m more than a little proud to say- I’ve also managed to pathetically wobble 1600 miles on to it, all of which have been epic in a way that even the V4R and Desmosedicis that proceeded it cannot touch.

The bike (No 468/ 500) has only ever been ridden by me, and has never been ridden on track. It has been fully serviced by Ducati (last serviced 150 miles ago (the major service), so nothing needed for 5900 miles as shown in the picture of the dash (and only then the minor oil service)).

The race exhaust and updated ecu have been fitted by Ducati, and all original parts and presentation box/ special parts/ stands/ screen/ mirrors/ books/ keys/ everything are present. I’ve also fitted an evotech tail tidy (by far and away the most complicated thing I’ve ever done, and that’s not a particularly low bar as I'm an engineer, it’s just ridiculously over complicated) and some mirror blanking indicators and a bar end mirror, but other than that the bike is fully standard. Because, let’s be honest, it’s already awesome.

The bike was MOT’d a little over a week ago (passed with flying colours) and obviously wants for nothing, but if you can find even one atom wrong with it I’ll happily pay you double whatever it costs to fix it, as I know you won’t be able to find anything. I love this thing in a way that my kids couldn’t even hope to muster. And unlike them, the 1299 has never pissed on my sofa when drunk. Little bastards.

I’ve had a look around online and the only one of these I can see for sale that has actually been ridden (and why own one if not? You may as well just buy a photo) is with the Sheffield folks and has more miles than mine for c50k. Given that their prices tend to be a touch strong, I’m going to price mine at c48k, but am open to advice/ offers if you think I’m way off. Obviously, the bike is in my name, I own it outright, and has no finance or anything on it.

If you’d like to know anything more, or would just like to tell me I’m handsome and heroic in a way that even the most precise towel folding no longer elicits from my wife, then please feel free to pm me.

Thank you in advance for any and all offers of a part ex. Whilst I’m sure your things are lovely, I really only want your money. I don’t even care where you get it from. Steal from your dying mum if you have to. Just buy my bike now. Thank you.

    Matt.

PS Forgive me, please. I'm assuming everyone who looks at this advert knows all about them. For those of you that don't know about the 1299 SL, this is the specification:

  18. Does anyone fade any ideas whether I’m about right on the price? I don’t really want to spend the rest of time dealing with people who don’t know what they’re talking about, so I’d really appreciate the opinion of people who do.

  19. FWIW, I think you are under valuing the bike. IMO, of all the Ducati limited editions, the 1299 Superleggera is THE one to have. It's not like you need to dangle a carrot even though your target market is very small. Bottom line, if you ask too much you can negotiate down, if you under sell it, some bugger will buy it and sell it on at a higher price. For my money, starting price of £53k. Andy
