My beautiful boy is two today. We still keep in touch with his mum and his sister Moose. They could nearly be twins.
Congrats on the expected arrivles, exciting times We had my beagle re-scanned Friday and they now over due (She thinks 5-6 pups) - Going back tomorrow but if not out by Thursday we might have to have the caesarean option but hoping to avoid for the trauma side of things. Poor thing is really suffering in the sudden heat, think she's close though as she's started doing allot of digging in her bed last night and this morning so keep fingers crossed
Take her temperature 3x/day. When it raises a bit, and then drops to circa 37c, she should whelp in the next 8-24 hours. (Normal temp is 38-39c) Good luck
My scoob's official name/name when hes being naughty is Scooby Headrick Templeton Lemar the Third (and a few more names thrown in to boot).
yip, ours has a bit of a double barrelled title too. several actually. Indidont Indistop Indiwait IndiJesussufferingfugjustgonnyno
Looks like our little moo has done her usual trick of "cutting it fine/pushing her limit". She was due to the vets at 11 today for a checkup and what would of possibly been caesarean as she was well overdue by our dates/on the limit but at 2am this morning, she let me know it was time. So, after a fairly long wait, and in two sittings we have the gerbil's
We have had our Sprocker on 'Millies WolfHeart' dry kibble for around 6 months, it's been good, their 'cheapest' product is 60% Meat, and then they have some 70%/80% options, when I spoke with them on the phone they were absolutely fantastic also, offered loads of advise and felt like I was speaking with a real animal enthusiast. WELCOME TO MILLIES WOLFHEART
Ref some of the comments about diet etc, interesting stuff, we found that with our Sprocker, he absolutely LOVES veg... His favourites are: 1) Lettuce 2) Carrots 3) Green Beens/Long Stem Broccoli 4) Banana 5) Melon/watermelon 6) Cucumber Above all else, his favourite is Cheese, perhaps not surprising and something that he doesn't get much of, but if you get the cheese out the fridge he goes mad.
Iggy's a fan of carrots and like your boy, he's a cheese monster too, so I often crumble a small cube of feta into his bowl. He also has a taste for spicy food, so he'll happily lick a little bit of hot pepper sauce off my finger and he seems to find the tingle fascinating as he then spends ages licking his chops afterwards in a way that very much looks as if he is savouring the sensation. Eggs are another fave.
The springer we had would eat anything, and despite all our efforts trying different training methods and even calling in an expert food was always an issue with him. We had to keep him out of the room while people ate, otherwise he’d just take it off their plates. I don’t think any of our dogs have ever refused any food.
yeah this is one of the battles I gave up on with our beagle, she has to sit in her bed while we eat and if she gets out then out she goes sadly
So, 3 1/2 weeks after teh big day and here's the tribe so far. Still no idea which way its going to go in terms of shape/features yet Been a few sleepless nights, but tye just starting to get up and about properly and started play fighting and exploring so the next stage has begun Been hard but fun overall, will be her only litter I think so making the most of it
At least 4. This will be our first litter where we bred both Mum (Fly) & Dad (Chester). Due around 15th August (all spoken for .... unless we get a really wonky M/F split) .... Fly (Calareto This Bird Has Flown) Chester (Calareto Rock On Tommy)
This thread records the circle of life, so much good news for many, with pups on the way, new arrivals and a few sad departures. I’m heartbroken to report we had to have our beloved Tippi put down a week ago on Friday. She’d struggled for a couple of years with slowly increasing immobility in her back legs, despite which she seemed perfectly happy and pain free, as confirmed by the vet just three weeks ago. However, in her final week, her condition deteriorated very quickly. We went for our usual walk on Tuesday morning and in the afternoon she was unable to stand. Wednesday she was still unable to stand and we noticed blood in her urine, the amount of blood seemed to increase each time she ‘passed water’ and we knew we were in the final chapter. Our vet was unavailable on Thursday, so we had to wait till Friday - it felt like a month! We spent all day with her, fed her fillet steak and said our goodbyes. I think my wife has cried her own weight in tears! Ironically, all the Dobermanns we’ve come to know since we’ve had her have all had the same temperament, that is diametrically opposite to the reputation they have, they are incredibly gentle and affectionate with everyone, including burglars! They are the archetypal velcro dog that just wants to be at your side 24/7. If my wife happened to be upstairs and I’d be downstairs, Tip would split the distance and settle on the half landing, so as to be halfway between the two of us, without fuss or noise. We got Tippi from the RSPCA when she was 3 months old, so we decided her ‘official’ birthday was October 2. She would have been 11 years old in a couple of months. She’s gone but will never be forgotten
Sorry for your loss too! A very tough wrench to say goodbye to them, especially knowing how much they’ve given you (and you them) over their years. Sad days.
I’m so sorry BP. I was talking to a guy at cricket today whose springer spaniel had a heart attack right in front of him last year more or less where we were standing. The poor bloke was welling up and his voice was breaking while telling me that one minute she was there and the next she was gone, like flicking a switch. It’s probably very little comfort, but at least you were able to prepare, to come to terms with it and to show her lots of love.
