Duc 600ss Front Left Fork Pitted And Weaping Oil

  1. My 1997 600SS was fine at MOT a few weeks ago. However the pitting on the left fork is getting worse. The seals were like new but the pitting seems to be worse than last year.

I have tried to research new fork stanchions and fork replacement options.

I'm hoping someone might have recent experience of these units.
Most problems like tank, starting, brakes, bearings and decent rubber have been sorted so hope to keep here going.

  2. Just get them re-chromed and fit new seals?

  3. I wouldn't rechrome 600 forks, they are not worth it. There's few people in the UK that rechrome them due to the chemicals and environmental disposal issues involved. Therefor its going to cost about 200 to get them done. I'd buy some better forks, ideally from a 900SS, which are fully adjustable. This is of course just my opinion.

  4. cheers,
The rechroming is about 160 per leg. Buts that without stripping and rebuilt costs....
The 900ss are a better spec but probably require conversion to twin discs from single on 600ss?
Bit of a dilemna, poor duc.

  5. Prices have obviously gone up a bit. How about just trying to find replacement 600SS forks then? There's always the FB SS groups, they are quite handy for parts

  6. -- Thanks will try the FB for Supersport groups, cheers.
