  1. Out of interest who has been stopped by the Police for purely tinted/dark visor offence?

  2. I always wear a dark visor. Its never been commented on. I dont ride at night obviously. Ive been caught out a couple of times and had to ride in dark with visor up on a 1299. On M26/M25. It sucks riding that slow with visor up. If I know I'll be returning late, I'll take a clear around my waist.

  4. Same here, I just take a clear one around my waist inside my jacket if I need one. I’ve never ever been stopped for that though, although I don’t do lots of night riding

  5. A yes for me, been stopped twice in total since moving to Lincs. First time was on my own, went past police bike in opposite direction and he turned round and pulled me over, he said I was speeding but I dont think I was or it was very close but the usual "sorry officer" approach anyway. He checked bike over, looked that is was an OEM can and warned me about visor nicely and on my way

Second one however (The one I ticked yes above for), was one of those pull over anything and everything road campaign things, he said he wouldnt have stopped me if wasnt for the mirrored visor. So technically, not pulled over for it but it did get his attention and made him check the rest out but again a polite word was on my way.

I do think though both times, being polite, accepting my fate and not having anything more serious to dig into meant i got away with it. On a different occasion - A friend of mine was pulled for exhaust, got a fine for exhaust and visor but hes the kind of person who would argue with himself so not surprised.

  6. Always ride with a dark visor when it’s bright/sunny but always carry a clear one with me in case of sudden solar eclipse or cataclysmic meteorite event. Never been stopped for that or even had it mentioned when stopped for speeding (even when stopped and let off at 130+ due to simpering apologetic behaviour).

  7. An interesting take, I’ve been pulled numerous times mostly when much younger. I never found being polite to change the outcome.

Countering what I’ve been falsely accused of robustly has worked every time however or something I knew they couldn’t prove in court.

I’d rather pay the fine if I’m honest than be servile.

  8. I prefer the “Bend over and spread ‘em” approach.

  9. Lol
I got ‘off’ with failing to stop, failing to yield to traffic lights, dangerous riding, speeding no MOT no VED. I wasn’t apologetic just very measured in my responses.
The Black Rat was livid once I was forced to stop for the roadblock they’d put in place, I haven’t seen so many Police cars and motorcycles block a road.
I still laugh about it to this day, sketchy 6 months though waiting for the court papers that never materialised.

  10. Each to their own be true, if it works for you who am I to judge I just not ever found it to be successful.

  11. I used to be mouthy. I know this is difficult to believe. Ive been beaten up at least 5 times in the back of van or in cell. (early 80's). Ive done bird for Lambretta related offences twice and spent a weekend in Lewes for lewd behaviour. I'm now 57 and too old for that shit. I choose being polite, its just easier.

  12. I would just be respectful, I'm not an idiot, if I put an exhaust on that says 'not for road use' or is silly loud I know it's not legal and the guy stopping me would, so telling him he should be off catching real criminals is going to boil his p*ss and get me nowhere.

  13. a mate told me once, mustve been 17 or 18 at the time, that if you add "in my personal opinion" in front of what you say, the cops couldnt do anything. I tried that by saying to a copper "in my personal opinion you're a c*nt". It didnt go well for me. Oh the stupid niavity of yoof. So stupid I tried it twice.

  14. I wear a dark visor, partly for glare but predominantly because I’m ugly.

Never pulled for either the visor or the mug behind it.

  15. Years ago I was pulled over and given a “ticking off” for having a dark visor by plod at Devil’s Bridge. He also took the opportunity to give the bike (think it was a GSXR1000K6) a once over. He found nothing else of any consequence to do me for.

  16. I always wear a dark visor and on really sunny days I wear my sunglasses underneath too.

  17. wouldn't buy a new lid without integral drop down tinted visor now.

  18. I know a guy who has a light reactive visor fitted on a Shoei helmet and he loves it for track days. Have tried to find one to try on my LST Thunder lid but with no luck.

Not sure if one of these would keep you on the thin blue line?

  19. Tbf for most of us Ducati owners, they don't pull us over they just wait until we are broken down on the side of the road and then do us.

  20. I'm not sure if this is a Bob Dylan quote or just my own not quite profound bullshit - "To be a rebel you need to live within the law"
