Summer Jackets

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Expat Jack, Jun 23, 2023.

  1. I am getting roasted in the current heat. I ride in an airbag equipped RST leather jacket on the road.

I fancy the Knox Honnister or Urbane Pro. Anyone got real world experience of these? Good and bad.

Any other recommendations. Must be cool and reasonably protective.

    TIA

  2. Mesh is the only way to go honestly mate. I wear a Dianese Air-frame one, that was fairly cheap, but I still wear a standalone back protector and I've upgraded the armour in it for better stuff that's still air frame armour

  3. Don’t RST do a mesh jacket, I’m fairly sure most other manufacturers do.

I have the Urban Pro, cooler weather I wear it under my Dainese. Hot days is a long sleeve tee shirt under it. Buy the Darker colour version my lad wears as the Silver Grey version looks pants.

I’ve also worn it under my Dainese one piece, both me and the lad love ours. I haven’t crash tested it though.

  6. Love the Klim Marrakesh . It’s my go to jacket if it’s not pishing down. AA rated from memory sizes up a bit baggy & not a sports bike jacket if that’s what you’re after. I have last years model & understand this years version has been tweaked in some areas (Moto leg ends have the details)

  8. Rev-it Mesh with back protection/shoulder, elbow pads. Snug fit with t-shirt.

  9. Urbane Pro is excellent for hot days.

Had mine a few years now and very confidence inspiring armour.

  10. Both myself and girlfriend have one, great jacket. I'm normally large but had to exchange for a medium, Motolegends free return and replace came in handy, and then their 'never knowingly undersold' policy when I saw it £30 cheaper in my local Helmet City shop. They refunded the difference plus 10%. It flows air when on the move, any jacket will get warm at a standstill in hot weather. D3O armour in shoulders, back and elbows. Corsica last year with GF and now just back from solo European trip where temps went into low 30s. The Klim Marrakesh paired with Rokkertech jeans kept me far cooler than my mate in his leathers.

As part of a layering system it works well for my summer continental trips as the std jacket that's added to as required with merino breeze blocker undergarment or waterproof breathable over-layer. The stretchy fit will also accommodate my Rab down jacket if needed. Girlfriend loves the stretch fit of hers too, suitably flattering... and no, pictures will not be provided.

  11. Another vote for the Urbane Pro here. I also have the Rukka Forsair, which I’ve been wearing on my current trip to the south of France, that jacket vents very well.

  15. I wear the all black Knox mesh jacket over my Tech Air5 blow bag:upyeah:
Very good. Has a long horizontal pocket along the back waist area. Big enough for a waterproof:D
My local Infinity store are selling massive amounts of them. Comes with elbow armour too.

  16. I have a Klim Marrakesh, had to change from XL to L, wore it from San Francisco to New York, temps reached 132 F (55C) and nothing would have worked, but it was a pleasure to wear.

Hardly worn it this year, but it’s ready

  17. I've got a perforated leather, I took the lining out, not pretty but very effective.

  18. I have a made to measure two pieces suit from Brian at BKS, they drilled the leather and I have two liners, one airtex, the other fleece.

  19. My Knox mesh jacket is far cooler in hot weather than my BKS m2m perforated leather jacket.

  20. Only just seen this thread. +1 for the Knox Urban Pro :upyeah:. In fact I wear mine pretty much all year round, I just take the armour out of my other jackets and wear them over the UP in the autumn/winter months and the UP on its own when it’s really hot in the summer. As it’s a very snug fit (it’s meant to be) I just know the armour is going to stay in place. Also FYI it’s AA rated on its own, not many mesh jackets are.
