  1. I'd like to add that I am a totally different person to the one I was back then. I dont recognise that kid. But thats another story. Ive had an unconventional life.

  3. I had a dark visor on my Arai Giga 25 years ago and every helmet since, I even rocked up on a BikeSafe course last year, I completely forgot about the visor, I sensed one of the police riders wanted to say something. Find it difficult now to ride without one.

  4. Just to update my own post.
On track if it’s even just overcast I use a clear visor for better definition of the track surface. If the sun is out, on with dark visor.
On the road, my default is dark visor as speeds are much lower. But. Today whilst out on a 90 mile ride in bright conditions I found I had to lift my visor on certain parts of the road that were shaded by trees. This to spot gravel and potholes ( eyes taking longer to adjust these days?). On balance I prefer dark visors but you do need a modicum of sense when wearing them.
Oh. And I have never had an issue (3000 plus road miles per year, decades of riding) with the Bill wearing them (despite other speed related pulls). Same for my smaller than legit plates.

  5. On the road I always have a clear visor with a tinted tear off, if I did get caught out with diminishing light I just rip it off:cool:

  7. This is the reason I changed from Arai to Shoei. The integrated sun visor. Sun, shade, going in and out of tunnels; So much easier with an integrated sun visor and no need to carry a 2nd visor.

Changing the visor on the Arai always results in bad language too.

  10. The best helmet I owned it was like being wrapped in a duvet very comfy and red :D

I left it on my bike while waiting for some friends to join me next to a roundabout and a few lorries had past and I heard a loud bang to find it on its head on the floor
    Was gutted :(

  11. Great minds think alike Viv.I have worn all the well known helmet brands and Schuberth is certainly the most comfortable and very well made.

  12. I have a Shoei with drop down sun visor and I fitted a light tint visor which is legal as far as I’m aware. I fitted it because I found the drop down wasn’t quite dark enough in low sun. It doesn’t really help that much.
I gotta say, I don’t think the optical clarity of the drop down is very good.

  13. Agree about the less than perfect clarity of the Shoei drop-down. Still better than sunglasses tho'. I'm also looking for a plain visor-top dark strip to cut the blinding sunsets....

  14. I have a dark visor on my Arai and a reactolite pinlock on my Klim. The dark visor works much better.

Never liked the drop down in the Shuberth I had.

I carry a really cheap pair of off-road goggles in my rear seat bag and if plod did stop me, I'd hope they'd see I 'prepared'.

  15. I was thinking about some kind of tape for the top of the visor but I have a feeling I’d manage to make it look a bit shit.
