Held Titan Rr ?

  1. @Advikaz, what is your opinion now you’ve had these gloves for a couple of months ? It’s time for me to change my ancient Alpinestars GP Pros and the few group test reviews I found with the Titan TT’s, they were really rated despite only being CE Level 1. One reviewer was so confident, he felt they would breeze through the Level 2 tests and couldn’t understand why HELD hadn’t submitted them for Level 2. Your opinion would be greatly appreciate. 2. Hey mate, I can’t really comment regarding CE as I’m not sure.

I went with the Titans as I wanted what is considered by many to be the safest gloves (I work in IT and can’t afford to have knackered hands).

It was a thought process when I ‘came out of retirement/the closet’ as this is a dangerous game at times, I wanted to mitigate it as much as possible.

I am very impressed with the Held Gloves. They’re a bit stiff at first but after a few outings I don’t even notice them anymore.

I haven’t crashed in them yet so don’t have any first hand experience (no pun intended). They do look and feel quality though, so wouldn’t have any concerns.

I don’t rate Alpinestars gloves personally.

  3. I think they look pretty smart as well, if that’s your thing :)

  4. Looking good you tart :joy::joy: Thank you, I appreciate your feedback. I already have Ducati branded HELD and the HELD equivalent touring gloves and their sizing suit my sausage shovels. I’ll talk to the Sportsbikeshop guys and get a 3XL pair sent over when they get the next consignment in. I think the black/yellow ones for me :D Andy

  5. I feel your pain mate, I too have digger buckets for hands !

  6. I had the previous Titan model, and it felt bombproof. I’m a Held gloves fan, and my Titan gloves felt well-built.

They proved short-lived. The fingertips wore through from two summers’ moderate usage (only worn when warm and dry). I figured it was a one-off and bought another pair, but suffered the same problem. However, I imagine they’d be excellent for track-use-only.

Now I’m wearing Brian Sansom’s BKS Race Gloves and am delighted so far. They are beautifully built (as you’d expect from BKS). Although they aren’t made in Exmouth, they’re manufactured to Brian’s spec.

While I prefer the BKS gloves, I’ve also had good experiences with Racer’s High Racer gloves.

  7. I have been of a similar mind and tried three options:
    • Held Titan RR gloves: Built like a tank, excellent for track use, but mine wore out prematurely merely from regular road use. Pricey! Fit: marginally bigger than Astars/Dainese.
    • BKS 003 Race gloves: Beautifully built. Fit: similar to Astars/Dainese. They’re my new favourite gloves. Too new to give a long-term report, but I have faith in Brian Sansom’s gear.
    • Racer R-Safe gloves: Built like a tank – possibly the most protective glove available. Fit: fit fractionally tighter than Astars/Dainese, so you might need to go up a size. I’ve had various Racer gloves, and the R-Safe are half a size smaller than the others. Unlike my Held Titans, my R-Safe gloves lasted years. A review: https://www.webbikeworld.com/racer-r-safe-gloves-review/
I ruled out Alpinestars (too many reports of poor QC with stitching) and Dainese Full Metal gloves (pricey yet less protective than the BKS 003 gloves).

  8. I had a bad experience with Five several years ago. I bought their then top of the range glove and on the first day of wearing them, the stuck on graphics started to peel off. The gloves got sent back to Five who declined to replace them. According to the reply (in French) it was my fault ....... I actually wore the gloves :joy: Andy

  9. French customer service? Sacré bleu!

Hearsay suggests Five previously went through some quality teething problems, which are likely now resolved. Recently, Kate Jennings (who is picky about which products Hideout stocks) told me she'd begun selling Five "because they play the gloves game properly." However, I have no first-hand experience with Five.

@Android853sp Shouldn't you have gone back to the retailer, not the manufacturer?

  10. Plus one for Racer gloves. If you can live with the embarrassment of having “Racer” displayed on your wrist. o_O

  11. I did and they were equally shit :joy: Andy

  12. Speaking of gloves- get the absolute best you can afford. Whenever I’ve had an off it’s the old digits than give me the most grief afterwards…

  13. Agreed. Though it's not always easy to know what's the best, what with all the marketing hype.

    Merde! Who was the retailer?

  14. I've had a pair of Held Titan gloves since 2018 which are only for track use several times each year. Don't really notice them, very comfy and good wrist support. They have also survived a long slide at the end of the straight at Snetterton in various palm down/up configurations with only minor scratches/scuffs. That was three years ago and they are still going strong. When they do fail I will be getting another pair. Highly recommended :upyeah:
