I would like one of these, useful if you need to park up somewhere soft.. looking about the ones from well known brands which look very spendy for what essentially is a bit of ally and some set screws. EBay china specials are a third of the price. Am I missing something in the value of the well known brands? I don’t want to be doing the buy cheap buy twice thing if I can help it. TIA
Have a look here, not sure if the V4 can use the sidestand foot as the 1260 but worth doing some research. Edit: Quick look at the SW Motech site and it lists the same part number, STS.22.584.10002, for both bikes (1260 and V4). Suggest you verify this yourself...
No they’re deffo different for the two models. I asked the dealer to swap the extender from my 1260 PP to the V4 PP but it wouldn’t fit so I had to buy a new version
SW Motech must have it wrong then, going though their bike selection process they come up with the same foot for both the v4 and the 1260.
To be fair mine weren’t SW Motech they were Puig so I shouldn’t advise. Just know the old one wouldn’t fit on the new bike and I had to order a new one that for the V4
Nothing wrong with the china specials, run one on my 1200 for ages. Aliexpress is usually even cheaper than eBay, just take a few weeks to arrive. Advise putting a rubber pad under the stand foot, old bit of bicycle inner tube worked well, just to stop it rattling if a bit loose.
Good shout. Whack on a piece of chinese crap, after waiting a few weeks for delivery, then put up with it rattling, or butcher an inner tube and glue it on. All on a near thirty grand bike. Got a link
Plus one for china. I've compared quite a few so called "branded" parts versus the same parts direct from china. ASV levers for example. I have no proof but those levers are the same Chinese parts with a logo lasered on including some of the bolts being just a smidge too short so they don't fill the nut. £140 for ASV in a nice box or £16 direct from china.
I not a fan of the Chinese stuff where they blatantly steal the IP. For many parts a fair bit of time and money goes into the R&D and that's fair enough as manufacturers need to make things add up. See a lot of it with EVO tec knock offs etc. But a side stand extender at £55 seems a bit of a gouge
Couldn't make it up really, could you. I wonder if the Ferrari forum has a thread on where to get the cheapest rubber mats??
Yes, but ASV have spent many thousands of pounds developing and testing their products, only to be ripped off by a Chinese company producing untested shite. By purchasing cheap knock off kit, you're supporting that industry.
Bought a pair of cheap Chinese adjustable brake and clutch levers from eBay for my VFR many years ago. Both the black and red (just the adjuster lever) anodising faded to brown and pink respectively within 6 months of purchase. Looked like a bargain but low on quality.
Used SW Motech one in this thread: https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/multistrada-1200-and-1260-parts-assorted.96339/
What I'm implying is that ASV buy the same product and sell it for a rip off price. I'm not supporting that industry.
They don’t. They design and manufacture their own products, spending many thousands on r&d. The Chinese companies are the ones doing the ripping off.
On no account buy the SW Motec one. I fitted one and on retraction it hit the centre stand gouging out a chunk of paint. I tried to file it down so it wouldn’t hit but gave up when the alloy was filed flush with the steel top piece and it was still hitting. Bought the one from from Pyramid Plastics which is superbly made, fits without issue and about £20 cheaper.
Best of both, Ducati branded at Chinese prices https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/multistrada-v4-rizoma-side-stand-foot.96197/
Haha, yeah I did forget you Pikes Peak guys are bit more 'special' than most, only the best for you boys!
