Moto Gp Silly Season Article

  1. Remarkable that Zarco does not have a 2024 contract.

  2. There's a lot of chatter about Rins leaving LCR (he has an exit clause) and taking Morbidelli's seat at Yamaha. Morbidelli is all but confirmed as leaving Yamaha on the grapevine.

  3. I still don’t think maverick is nailed on for next year. His form and general body language screams another downward spiral to me (sadly).

  4. Totally agree. He has temperament issues, a bit like Jorge 99.
Aprilia need to get back to where they were a year ago, winning.
How tempting for the Noale peeps to dangle a fat cheque in front of 93…….

Light blue touch paper and stand well clear :D

  5. For me its the only way 93 can leave Honda this year, not sure Aleix would want him as a team mate but i doubt he would have much say on the subject if it ever looked like happening.

  6. I still cant fathom how the asparagus bros got a ride in gp. Never rated them against their peers and theres younger better riders.

  7. I can understand Pol because he won the moto 2 title (even Acosta might not manage that).

Aleix is a weird one granted and I don’t really recall how he turned up in moto gp but I think he must be doing something right to have enjoyed such longevity?

Can’t just be passport related. Plenty of fast Spanish boys out there.

  8. I agree that Marquez to Aprilia could well be the only viable option. Actually being Spanish and the size of the scooter market in spain (and bikes in general) he could be a positive addition for them. I wonder whether Piaggio have the budget for him though.

  9. I may have mentioned this before but we love aleix in this house. Always as positive and smiling as he can be and let’s face it he’s ridden some REALLY shit bikes and had some horrible injuries doing so.
Seeing his fortunes change for the better last year was brilliant imo. Definitely deserves to be on the grid as things stand today, more so than Pol.

  10. Exactly there no way Aprila will pay him 6m a year or whatever it is Honda are paying him, which basically means he’s got to “buy himself” out of the Honda contract and then take a (quite substantial) pay cut to join the third best team on the grid.
He’s in a bit of a pickle right now is my guess.

  11. And third best is a bit of a reach at some circuits rn.

  12. MM 93 is loaded as can be seen on YT videos, so I doubt the money is a motivator.
He is all about winning and getting the ninth title. Time is ticking and another year and a half of crashing for no benefit does not make sense.

  13. Anyone know where Aprilia buy their fairings? If a big order goes in, you know somethings afoot!

  14. What if he’s SO desperate to prove he can do it that he does it for 2million and takes sponsors like Estrella etc….

  15. Marquez is effectively earning 25M Euro per year from Honda (4 year contract at 100M Euro), let alone what Alpinstars, Red Bull etc must be paying him.

Let's be honest his motivation is to win and I suspect to beat Rossi's titles, given the needle between those two. If someone offered him a free seat on a known winning package do you think he'd turn it down? It's not as if he needs the money.

  16. Define known winning package though! Aprilia? Not really. Ktm? Potentially.

  17. KTM is the only viable option for Marquez.
The bike is capable of winning with the right rider and Red Bull already pay him a big wedge so they are already working together on one level.

  18. There are no viable options for MM93 without A. Honda letting him go and B. Him accepting he no longer commands anything close to the money he is on, he is damaged goods, and with limited manufacturers and Ducati having no real desire to see him on one of their bikes, he risks seeing his career fizzle out ..... the future has arrived and Marc ain't part of it...

  19. You might be right.

But I doubt there is a team who would turn him down at the right price -and who knows, perhaps MM will do a Senna and offer to race for free on the best machinery...
