1299 Dqs Delete

  1. I'm fitting a HM SABS quick shifter. It is a stand alone QS that inserts itself in between the electronic throttle. However, that means I no longer require the oem QS. But when it is unplugged you get the ENGINE error on dash. So, I'd like to find a method of disabling this. I could just leave the old qs sensor plugged in and tie it up, but that feels daft. TBH, a device should come with a 'plug n play' device from HM, but it doesn't.

The QS is 3 wires. I'm sure I could make a loop connection but I am not an electronics expert so I seek advice on here.

  2. The BBS is probably looking for resistance to confirm the presence of the QS. I take it that setting DQS to OFF (if that is available) has no effect?
It may be possible to modify an EXBV bypass box to fool the DBS.
If it was an IAW5AM ECU I would just disable the DQS in a reflash. No idea if it can be done on the BBS bikes.

  3. Might need a reset @nelly will know for sure, he did mine. He’s frightfully cool :D:upyeah:

  4. Would the new plug and play not offer the same resistance as the oe?

Soz, just re read… stand alone…

  5. Likely it does not use the loom connection for the DQS

  6. No, it sits between electronic throttle. For a temp fix I'll remove the switch from the oem qs and leave it plugged in for now. I'll make a little plastic cover for it to protect it and zip it to the wiring.

Can Melcodiag offer this ability? Wish my VW T6 VAG worked on it. I can reset anything on that.

  7. I'll measure the units resistance. There's 3 wires. Ones a sensor GND, the others a Sensor 5V and t'other is a QS Signal. I'm guessing I loop the GND and 5V with an appropriate resistor?

  8. Measured resistance. Its 2k or more accurately 1.998k. Can anyone tell me where to find those 3 pin white plastic male connectors? What they called? Ta.

  9. Pic of connector

  10. SABS Lite or PRO ? Andy

  11. LITE. I don't need launch control or pit limiter.

  13. Yes Chris, I was just hunting for those. Thanks.

  14. I’ve found very little information about fitting the HM SABS to a 1299 on t’internet, remarkably little, to the extent I found only one person who was going to fit a SABS to a 1299 in 2020 but never updated the (US) forum post. The HM instructions give you the minimum generic information. To my simple brain, you need a blanking plug for the OE loom to prevent the error message and that should be offered as an extra by HM but the web site is so crap, I haven’t been able to find if they do. Not sure why, when HM offer a specific solution (in this case for the 1299) they offer a simplistic generic solution as well. How many fly-by-wire throttle bikes are there out there, that HM don’t already offer a specific solution for ? Hope you can get it sorted. Andy

  15. I agree Andy. There should be something provided. Ive ordered the parts and will make my own. I am also telling them what I did and will say they should provide. In the meantime I will leave switch on the bike. See my heath robinson...

  16. Just curious as to why you didn’t go down the Translogic route? Seem reliable enough…
