Hi just coming up to to needing a full 15000 mile full desmo service on my 2018 v4s, any ideas on what price ish it will be from a main dealer?
I’ve not got to that service interval yet but on top of the valve clearance check, the 15,000 mile service includes replacing many of the single use, magnesium alloy case bolts and IIRC, they were £17 each. Space is tight which means you have to remove a lot of parts to get to the heads and it wouldn’t surprise me if you are talking removing the radiator and rear sub frame. Current main dealer labour rates are what, £120/hour including VAT ? If the job takes 8 hours, you are into £1000 just for labour and probably another £400 for oil/filter and bolts. All wet finger in the air estimates but a belt and valve clearance on a Mk1 1200 Multistrada was not far off that. Andy
I can well believe it , but it's still an insane amount of money for labour alone . Highly trained , skilled and experienced mechanics working on jet engines don't get paid that much ! And what are you going to get for it ( apart from having your pants pulled down with the bill ) ? Behind the scenes , most of the work will be done by a spotty young grease monkey , supposedly " supervised " by an allegedly " factory trained " mechanic ( ...... yeah , right ! ) . Do yourselves a huge favour and stay the hell away from official dealerships . Find yourself a well respected independent Ducati specialist ..... there are several who regularly contribute on this forum . Even if you have to arrange to have the bike transported , you will still save stacks of cash , and you'll get a quality job done , by someone who cares ! Just my dos escudos though .... ....... sorry if it comes across as a tad cynical ......
I’m assuming you’re not aware of the charge out rate for an engineer who works on jet engines, otherwise you wouldn’t have made such a ridiculous statement. Also assume you don’t realise that the hourly rate goes towards paying for the nice free coffee and hire bikes etc, other staff wages as well as the oil change; the mechanic doesn’t earn £120 an hour.
I’m sure my friend agreed a price around £700 to have his done over the winter about 18 months ago. Next time I see him I will ask That was in Cardiff Ducati I’m on 6500 miles so curious how much too. I’m kinda expecting 1k tho
Is 15k the mileage for the desmo service? I’m sure my dealer said around 10k. They had told me around £750 for the desmo service
Ducati flat time for the service is 6.1 hours. If it needs a lot of shimming, maybe expect a little more..... That's a published number, so no secret. Couple of hundred or so in parts/oil/fluids etc. plus the VAT. Labour is probably your biggest variable.
No I dont believe so. If you go into service settings on your V4 you should see it there on a countdown clock in miles not time
That's a Multistrada thing which is a much less stressed engine. The assumption is, every rider Panigale V4 will be revving the nuts off the engine. Andy
My mate with a 2018 V4S was recently quoted £1765 and £1200 from 2 main dealers based in Hampshire for a Desmo service. He is now prolonging the service until winter and hopes to take advantage of reduced labour rates.
The Ducati UK owners club membership can give you a bit of a discount at some dealers; against cost of parts I think. My dealer does. But it is up to the individual dealers as to what if any discount they may offer.
