1200 DVT Skyhook Suspension Servicing

  1. Has anyone had their skyhook suspension serviced? I’ve got 2015 1200S with 22k on the clock and want to get the suspension serviced.
    What can you get done with skyhook?
    what did you pay?
    Who did you use?

  2. I have over 47k on my 2015 DVT and I’ve never had the Skyhook serviced outwith anything that might be done on its regular yearly or mileage services.
    I don’t thing Skyhook needs a separate service.

  3. For the front it's not overly complex to change the fork oil, if you want to tackle yourself. Fork oil change is recommended at 18k miles, but I didn't do mine until close to 30K and only because of a seal leak. Couple of tools need for removing the fork cap and if you're going to, replacing the seals. Fork cap wrench can be had here - https://gbmotorcycleproducts.com/ and seal driver and bullet can be found on Amazon. If you're careful you don't need to remove the tank cover or other upper plastic pieces, fender can stay by doing 1 leg at a time.

  4. You have to remove the tank to get to the left side electronics plug.

  5. Pretty sure there is a guy in the UK that can overhaul the rear shock. There's a thread on the US site where some guy sent his over for it.

  6. Not sure if this company is any good as I haven't used them. Seem to have plenty of excellent Google reviews though. Based in Croydon I believe. Have them bookmarked for future use.

  7. Ive had my rear spring upgraded at T-Tech suspensions. He can service, rebuild and upgrade the skyhook, Great service.
    Does a lot of the GS active suspensions and can be checked out on Facebook. He's very busy and probably best to send him a message or email

Teut at TW Suspension Tech near Preston recently serviced my 1260S forks, they had not been touched in 5 years and 50+k miles, there was a distinct knock from them when they topped out, eg over a speed hump. He fully stripped loose forks, cleaned and inspected all internals, replaced all bushings (which were badly worn), oil and dust seals and rebuilt them. Price was a reasonable £220. What a difference, you don't realise how bad they have become until you ride it after the service, money well spent.
    The rear shock doesn't need any work at the moment as it has been replaced under warranty, twice :rolleyes:

  9. That’s great Kartman. I’m in Lancashire too so that’s really good to know. I’d like to use Kais but they quoted £450 for forks £450 and wasn’t sure if this was a bit steep although they are absolute class.

  12. When you say loose do you mean you’d taken them out of the bike yourself?

Yes exactly it's not too difficult just a bit time consuming, the rh fork is simple enough without removing any bodywork, however the lh woring connector is front left under the tank so requires the plastics and tank to be removed, you may be able to lift the tank enough to get to the connector without removal but I didn't try that.

  16. Tank cover or tank does not need removal to access LH skyhook front fork connector. It's accessible to undo without removing the tank.
