Disastrous Introduction To Ducati Life!!

  1. It means an HT cap/spark plu can give you one hell of a belt if you grab hold of it. Its painful.

  3. Mechanic reckons the lead from coil passes close to something and has probably shorted out hence huge misfiring and back firing. Should be easy fix he said but can’t do it until 12th. Not happy new bike and can’t ride it until the 12th. Looking forward to power difference over R1200RT!

  4. All good things come to those that wait... :D

  5. Horizontal/Front HT leads are prone to failure causing a misfire. Especially if the bike gets ridden frequently in wet conditions.

Not sure if later leads are any better in this regard. My 1260 hasn't had an issue in 21,000 miles over almost 5 years.

  8. Hello, and welcome to the madhouse

Just a quick note, if posting pics, try and get a dustbin in the pic along with your bike, @Ducbird loves bins

  9. Yes please :D

  10. Final outcome was small fracture/hole in horizontal cylinder map sensor tube. Running ok now but doesn’t explain why mechanic got a shock from ht lead.

  11. Is it possible to get the leads changed for peace of mind at the sellers expense?

  12. I may get them changed anyway when I get a full check over by a local ex-Ducati motorcycle mechanic. Before trip to the dolomites in September.
