  2. They were all good tbh, obviously a few were a cut above the others. Lake Bled was high end. We ate at some, but also ate out at others, such as a floating restaurant in Bratislava. Topper.
The team had obviously put a lot of work into planning everything.

  3. Cannonball is not always welcome back at some hotels. No (alleged) burn-outs ever took place at any of the locations we stayed at..

  4. After reading about bikes being confiscated in France this week, have to confess I would prefer to ride at an isle I felt comfortable at.

    But each to their own.

  5. ??

Not seen this. Due to mods, speed…or kids on scooters?

  6. Speed
50km over the limit. Not sure if I could find it again. Think it was on France Bleu and in your area too iirc.

  7. The bit about 50km over the limit is below in th same article. Now potentially punishable by 2 months prison.

  8. I think most European countries are doing this, though tbh, you would be unlucky as a visitor. I know someone who was 70kmh over the limit in Austria. Was touch and go, but got away with a 1600euro fine. A lot of money but a result really.

  9. Ok.
But little difference to the UK then?
I would respectfully suggest, be careful ( which road) where you play. Fun is still to be had.

  10. Tbh I am thinking of a Triumph Street Twin for my French garage so 195km/ph will only happen off a cliff.:D

  11. Probably :upyeah:
Its obvious that if your bike is registered in the country where any offence ‘allegedly’ takes place, more risk is attached. Being frank, I had a 35euro fine in Austria for a slight misreading of the limit. No points though…a cursory glance at the number plate. A ticket. Paid cash. Signed nothing. No repercussions.
I dont ride like a lunatic in other countries, that said, I do ride more carefully in France as my motorcycle is registered here.
Biggest issue is the speed limit changing between some departments. 80 or 90.

  12. The key is to have fun on the roads less policed. And not take the complete piss. I only saw one group of police doing roadside speed checks, but about 10 cars heading my way warned me long before I got to them.

  13. One of the 2nd home groups i am on also had a post last week about a British rider having his UK bike confiscated, it may even have been the same one.
In France, the best roads are the squiggly back roads anyway where 195kmph isn't possible. Much prefer that type of riding these days. The main roads in France are very straight and not much fun to ride.

  14. Some of France seems like that. Really depends on the area and also having time on your hands to turn off some of the more boring N roads.
That said, N106 and N102 are great examples of Route Nationale !

I agree with your sentiment about finding the winding roads. Ultra high speed is not where the fun is these days. Too much risk attached.
Also, I would be interested in just how far the Brit biker pushed their luck to have a motorcycle confiscated…just too much excess speed, or a list of other things too?

  15. Excess speed is what the individual said. The post was from one of the group involved so I would presume it’s genuine.

  16. I had the best time on the D roads and smaller, on my recent trip. On some days I wouldn’t see another car for 30-40 minutes, maybe even longer.

I enjoyed it so much, that I seem to have lost my enthusiasm for riding in this country. I hope that’s temporary though.

  17. Totally agree,on the lack of enthusiasm for riding in this country, and yes it's temporary lol.
As I do alot of riding abroad each year, and I think its where you are spoilt on a day to day basis of gorgeous scenery/the better weather and and also the carefree holiday vibe, that riding in Blighty just seems mundane at best.
Especially riding to the same old bike haunts, through the same old routes etc....

Although I did have an excellent blast through the lanes yesterday, so quick fix sorted !!!
