V4 How Did You Customised Your Strada?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Fanous, Jul 23, 2023.

  1. Hello All,

I've picked up my V4 Rally yesterday. Well chuffed! I'm curious what have you guys done to your V4 Multies? Decal, crash bars, anything, really.

At the moment I've got these from the dealer:
    - heated seats and grips
    - keyless tank cap
    - crash bars
    - hand guards not arrived yet, but on the way

Managed to get second hand aluminium luggages
Will be mounting the quadlock above the main display

    On order:
    - Roadlock
    - through axle crash bobbins

I keep looking online for what catches me eye and interest. So I'm basically curious what's out there I might like, what have you liked, and done to yours :)

  11. I've got a V4S Travel and Radar, in white, which came with plastic panniers, main stand, heated grips and heated seats.

Below is the complete list of accessories and parts I've fitted on my V4 Multi. Unlike @Multirider75, I am willing to share :)

Ducati Accessories purchased with the bike:
I had Biketrac tracker fitted from new by the Ducati dealer (Ducati Aylesbury) as required by my insurance company. I also took out 3rd party GAP insurance which was a lot cheaper than that offer by the dealer.

Ducati Accessories I already had, collected over 12 years of Multistrada ownership:
    Third party accessories:
I decided to get a smaller top case as the Ducati plastic top case is on the large side (47 litres) for day to day use. I purchased a Givi DLM Trekker Dolimiti which is smaller at 30 litres and has a good lock. It fits directly onto the Ducati rack using the Givi Monokey mechanism.

I used the Ducati touring tank bag a few times but didn't really like it so decided to look at Givi Tanklock range of tank bags. (same fitting as supplied with Ducati tank bags). After trying a few tank bags to see how they fitted (thanks to Sports Bike Shop for the free and easy returns), I purchased Givi XS308 tank bag. I prefered this bag over the Ducati touring tank bag because it's got the handle at the back (so it's easier to lift of the bike and if you forget to do the zip up the contents doesn't imediatly fall out), it's got a good map pocket (I like to prepare turn lists for each day's riding when on tour) and it's expandable. It also fits using the standard height tanklock compared with the much taller tanklock ring supplied with the Ducati touring tank bag.

Thanks to @Mr_V4PP for pointing out that the adjustable air deflector flaps from the Rally model could be retro fitted onto the V4/V4S/V4PP model, see the forum thread discussion in which I listed all the parts required and @Veetwin described the installation steps.

I've been thinking about a larger windscreen for a while and when I saw that Ducati had release a new screen and side deflector accessory pack, Ducati Gran Turismo 2 windscreen, I thought I'd give it a go. I only picked it up last week so can't comment on the difference it makes. I don't know if the screen and deflectors are from the Rally model as Ducati haven't released the online parts catalogue for the Rally model as yet.

When I had 1200 Multistradas, I invested in a few expensive tools for SSSA rear wheel removal: 55 mm bi-hex socket, 3/4" sq. drive breaker bar, 1/2" sq. drive torque wrench (70-330Nm) and after the breaker bar proved ineffective I purchased a cordless impact driver (DeWalt DCF899N, up to 1625Nm of breakaway torque!) plus impact sockets, adapters and extensions. For the V4S, I had to invest a new 36 mm bi-hex socket. I also purchased a 36 mm spanner but this far to large and heavy for tanking on a long tour so I ended up buying a special 36 / 30 mm combination socket and an extendable 1/2" sq. drive wrench and a short 1/2" sq. drive extension bar - see the forum thread @Veetwin started on the subject to rear wheel removal tools.

I agree with @Multirider75 comments that it it is possible to spend a lot of money on accessories on top of spending a lot on the bike in the first place. I used to keep a spreadsheet of all accessories, spares, tools, servicing etc. I'd purchased, however I stopped a few years ago as the total was frightening. The only good thing is that I've been able to get a few bob back by using this forum to sell used accessories, spares etc. when I've finished with them.

    PS.

I forgot to mention that I'd just ordered a Pike Peak handlebar (with associated clips and pins just in case) - see forum thread.

After reading @ymfb 's list, I too have an Optimate lead directly connected to the battery for charging and the connection to a heated jacket.

  12. I have fitted the side stand foot, engine guards and the lower enduro screen to mine. In the summer months it can get hot as they wind protection on the bike is so good so the lower screen made sense to me. I like to feel the speed anyway.

I don't really go for all the carbon stuff these days. Been there and done it, can't see the benefit anymore but each to their own.

I've also got a rack fitted so I can fit top box or soft bags as required. Still use my SW motech tank bags which are on my third Multi. They're so good I see no reason to change.

  15. My 1260s touring has the following:
    • Ducati rack and top case, useful both for luggage and secure feeling for GF due to backrest
    • Evotec rad guard
    • Evotec crash bungs
    • Evotec bar ends, heavier so more effective
    • Ducati GPS mount with AMPS 4 hole adapter plate
    • SP Connect cordless charging phone mount (this is currently mounted on the left handlebar but will shortly be moved to the Ducati mount above as MyRouteApp on my phone will be replacing my Garmin)
    • Touratech rider and pillion seats, a significant improvement over the awful OEM versions
    • Healtech servo eliminator, exhaust flapper wired open
    • JT Sprocket carrier with 40 tooth sprocket plus 14 tooth Esjot front sprocket (one less than OEM)
Not keen on bling, more interested in practical modifications to improve the usability and comfort of the bike. Very happy with all of the above, not aiming to change any time soon.

  16. Like the black side panels etc. Where did you source the carbon parts?

  17. I have a 2021 V4S Travel and Radar, Travel and Technology Package that has now done almost 19K miles and is just how it should be (for me) , from new -----

Michelin Road 5 tyres (now on Road 6s)
Ducati Top box with red panels
    Ducati Riding lights
    Red side panels
    Oil cooler Protector EvoTech
DP Engine Guard / Bash Plate
DP Extended handguards with metal sides
    Optimate wiring
    Side stand support extender
    Venture shield for paint work

Fitted by myself since delivery ---

Iconic Sat Nav V3 (V1 broke as did V2 but V3 has metal side plates)
    R&G tail tidy
Pyramid fender extenders front and rear.
Raised comfort rider seat (since been reupholstered with memory foam).
    Roadlok for security
    EvoTech Rear bobbins
Wing flaps from the V4 Rally
    Sykik tyre pressure monitors.
Front and Rear combined wheel nut (for touring use)
Ducabike Performance Technology adjustable levers (left and right)
Denali Mini sound Bomb horn (from my 1260)
Givi Dolomite Mono key 30ltr Top box (black)

Great touring bike, all day comfort and quite happy to lift the front wheel when you get the airbox to roar :). BTW it will lift the front on a handful very easily if you have loaded panniers on the bike!!

  18. Swapped the side panels to the red ones from the sport and changed to EvoTech levers. I like the look but also like the black side panels and fender on the bike posted above. Very sharp.

  19. Thanks for the very long list of things, appreciate it!

Few follow up questions to the above:
    - pyramid front flap extender. Did you dind it making much difference at all?
    - Grip Puppies - does the heat from the grips still come through? Looks like a great insulator.

Note about the windshield. Looked at the link, and it visually looks identical to mine.

  20. Which tankbag exactly did you get? Thanks
