What’s the going rate for secondhand red panniers to fit the 1260? Does anyone have any they no longer need? Thanks.
The coloured panels are available separately if you buy a pair the wrong colour. Or remove them and get them painted to match. If your bike didn't already have them fitted; you'll also need the small lower support brackets that attach to the pillion footrest hangers.
If I buy new or used genuine Ducati panniers am I correct in thinking I will require a new lock set to match my fuel cap and top box or is this not possible? Will I end up having a different key for the Ducati panniers? Would it be just as advantageous to buy non Ducati panniers?
You can buy a new lock set (item 12), far from cheap though. Not sure how many key blades are included. Non OEM panniers will require frames. The originals mount to recesses in the rear subframe making them a neater tucked in fit.
Only for a top box. Matching locks for the panniers are only supplied if bought with the bike at the point of order IIRC. Andy
Are the Ducati original panniers stamped with a code of any sort to tell which bike they will fit? I know where there is a pair, red, from a multi but not sure what year.
Must be a new thing as I originally got a set of three with the first Multi I bought (without panniers, which I bought later)
There maybe part numbers moulded into some of the parts but I'm not sure that would help. From memory, the pannier design changed on the introduction of the 1200 DVT in 2015 and stayed the same for the 1260. The "compatible models" list on the webpage for the accessory plastic panniers confirms this and also lists the 950 and V2 models as well. As to price; I would expect to pay £250-£300 for a good set. Damaged panniers for significantly less. Spare component parts are available according to the parts listings, how available they are in reality... who knows. Prices for these parts aren't too bad IMHO.
You’ve got me thinking now, bought mine with panniers only which the dealer might have fitted the locks to. Still got the 1 spare but it would make sense if you get 3. Andy
I've got 2 panniers from my last bike, the mounts are broken as they were ripped off by thieves and a few scuffs. You can have both for 100 quid. I'll be in Reading for the 18th August if you'd want to pick up.
I’ll have a think about it. The mounts plus fixings are around £180. It also depends on how bad the scuffs are and the colour too. Some photos if you have them would be great.
I'll PM you later with some pics mate. At the moment, they are sitting under a table in a garage taking up space.
I've got one of the RH black lower sections spare if that's a part you need, I ordered the wrong side, so it's in the loft just in case I needed it in the future!
