I feel that 1100 is way over geared, I rarely get above 4th gear unless on a dual carriageway or motorway (which I avoid) so I'm thinking switching to a one tooth smaller front sprocket. This should also ease the lumpy running at low revs by effectively making the gearing more close ratio. I'm sure this has been covered before so if someone can point me to a thread that covers the pros and cons I'd appreciate it. Also comments from those that have done this would be appreciated. Where best to source the sprocket etc? First post here, loving my Monster. Cheers all
My recommendation would always go up on the rear first. so 2 or 3 teeth up will give you roughly the same effect. But without risking the chain cutting into the guides or swingarm pivots.
I'd rather go that way too if the alternative rear sprockets are available. That option should give the chain an easier life too.
Cheers. That confirms that one tooth less on the front sprocket is exactly the same result as 3 more on the rear
