Kanye is the ultimate "emperor's new clothes" of music. But I'm happy for you if you find him entertaining. Here he is doing a 6th form level cover. Bloody awful
Sampling has it's place, sampling without due acknowledgement, regardless of whatever fees are paid, is what "gets my goat". https://www.factmag.com/2019/05/15/moby-play-20-years/
true, it was so bad it was good but he went on to get 2.7 mill views later (on a song he sung and co-wrote) that i'll never achieve. Songwriters: Darius Denesh / Deni Lew / Peter Wilfred Glenister
I was very very into late 80s Rap/Hip Hop and still listen to it from time to time. I kind of checked out in the early 90s so anything 'West Coast' etc didn't have much to do with. Samples were very heavily used, but I believe it was De La Soul that used so many on an album, it marked a turning point in sample usage and royalties. What I will say about Rap/Hip Hop without joining any argument about it being shite or not is that those samples opened up a new world of 60s and 70s Soul and Funk I wouldn't otherwise have heard. As a consequence my musical horizons were changed forever and I have Rap/Hip Hop to thank for it. Hip Hop is 50 years old today, so it must have done/be doing something right!
If you’re a Pink Floyd fan, have a listen to this ‘cover version’ and then try to convince yourself that the original is better.
I will be utterly amazed if anyone can beat this Tory helmet in the dodgy/fucking shocking cover version stakes
Challenge accepted! You're off piste… Challenge accepted! May I present, ladies and gentlemen, fit earplugs now!
Hold my beer…… Recently posted elsewhere on the forum, so members may already be cognisant of this masterpiece, but it truly is one for the ages.
Isn't Fate a strange thing ? Both Lennon and McCartney marrying such great singers ! I really enjoyed the end ...... [ no , seriously , I did ! ] Chuck and John scarper for the exit ..... quick smart ! PS - This must have been filmed during that devastating barbers strike in the Seventies
That is a very accurate and faithful cover. I listened to both back to back tho and can't say I agree with you.
