Ok Fight Fans - Best Ever Boxing Punch?

  1. Yep. Wilder sparked him out in 90 seconds but they’d been sparring partners when preparing for one of the Fury fights, so perhaps he’d already got the measure of him.

  2. No I don't think it is you because from what I've read about last nights fight he is proving to all to be a weapons grade twat.

Evidently he left the ring before Helenius had recovered and then celebrated with Connor McGregor... The only question left, is was he always a WGT or has he morphed into one after believing all the hype?

And as for the fight, seven rounds. Really?

  3. Unimpressive. AJ spent the whole fight fannying around about a foot further away from Helenius than he needed to be and the slightest movement from the left hand had him flinching and taking a step backwards, which meant he was always off balance. If it takes him 7 rounds to get rid of a journeyman who took the fight on 7 days notice and was really only good for one decent punch anyway, he’s going to get badly hurt by Wilder.

  4. Sounds like a man with dented confidence. I didn’t watch the fight, I knew it wouldn’t be very exciting. As I said, sooner or later Joshua would land one.
If he was pussyfooting around Helenius, who has no explosive power at all and in the twilight of his career, God knows what he’ll be like against Wilder. Probably looking for the big PPV payday and thinking of taking a dive…. I know I would

I bet he retires after Wilder. He’ll almost certainly get flattened. What next? A domestic slug fest? Fuck that! He’ll switch to TV stuff.

  5. I think he’s of questionable character. He’s been carefully managed and worked from behind by Matchroom. We’ve seen the mask slip a few times now. Not least after his 2nd loss to Usyk. I’ve seen a few of his fights where he’s had a sly little gob off to people through the ropes. Watch him just after he decks Andy Ruiz Jr in the 3rd round. I’d love to know who he was talking to and what he said. Less than a minute later he was on his arse himself en route to his first defeat.

  6. spot on. we dont recognise him now but fact is that this is who the real AJ is without the media training. shame because i thought he was precisely what british boxing needed but i was sucked into the made up version too. i hope media and press attention now focuses on the rising starts in the other weight divisions and on womens boxing where we have genuine depth of talent and some genuinely decent people

  7. I couldn't agree more but suspect this may not happen because they don't necessarily generate either enough clicks or money...

  8. Anyone watched the Uysk/Dubois fight? Was it a low blow or not?

The fact he needed 4 minutes recovery suggests it was a liver shot.

  9. It was right on the belt, which was pulled up high.

Couldn’t see Usyk’s navel but for me it was not a low blow. Not in the balls anyway as you’ll see from replays or pictures.

  10. And I've just read it was a right hook so couldn't have been a liver shot.

And also a hook would go into the side & not the balls - sounds like it literally took the wind out of him.

  11. Didn’t look a low blow to me. But if a powerful shot like that hits the protector, it can jar your knackers and have a similar effect to middle wicket. That said I think it was a legitimate shot that hit his bladder and hurt like fuck…

Either way, and despite Frank Warren’s amusing bluster and pretendy outrage (rematch-Kerching!!), it’s done. Usyk boxed his ears off and DD eventually quit again.

  12. I just want to see Fury vs Usyk. I don't care if I never see Joshua fight again or Whyte -neither of them are exciting and are both on the way out. There's far too many of these also ran fights promoted as something important when in reality...

When is the Fury vs Usyk fight finally going to happen?

  13. Promoters are such unsavoury turds. Warren has clearly seen an opportunity for a double up pay day here… (a rematch) one for me one for you… The only difference being DD gets punched in the head an additional 150 times whereas Frank gets a ringside seat.
I hope he doesn’t get a rematch. If he does it gives Fury additional wriggle room and he’ll end up fighting some other money spinning knuckle dragger instead of Usyk or AJ…

  14. I must admit I'm not entirely sure what the definition of a low blow is. I always thought it was defined by above/below the belt line... with no stipulation where on the body the belt line should be. And looking at the photos the punch was on the belt itself so it probably was a fair call then?

And that's a good shout Fairy - it could well have moved the protector and jarred/pinched the plums. And from the photos he does look to be in that sort of pain... 'kin ouch!

  15. As I've said before I'm not sure anyone wants to fight Fury... he's just so awkward and big and messy. Not to mention his self belief and natural ring instincts.

Perhaps after a couple of years of inactivity when they think he may be beatable.

  16. AJ will be retired after 5 minutes in the ring with Wilder.

  17. I’m not entirely sure but I think if a punch hits your protector, it’s deemed low. When the fighters come together at the beginning of the bout, the referee always checks the protector position. Sneaky fighters wear them a bit too high which can be construed as ‘illegal’ protection.

  18. Yup, Wilder will land one. AJ looked over cautious against powder puff puncher Helenius. Based on that, he’ll be positively terrified when faced with Wilder. And no wonder, Wilder is a heavyweight version of Thomas Hearns with his punch power :scream:

  19. Ha! yes he is, speed, power & aggression with big over the top bombs although Thomas could box as well. The Hitman is perhaps my favourite ever with, of course, his fight against Hagler possibly one of the best fights seen with the first round definitely the best seen.
