Wsb Now The Premier Race Series ?

  1. I've been enjoying MotoGP more than WSBK so far this year.

  2. Yesterdays BSB trumped both WSB and MotoGP. :)

  3. In what possible way? (i think i see why you started the thread now though lol)

  4. Wider range of manafactureres
    Completely unpredictable results
    Fantastic racing
    Fastest circuit in Europe
Place full of enthusiast not corporate nonentities.

Why did i start the thread then ?

  5. Each to their own of course but didn’t the O show win all three races on a bike that wont even be on the grid next year? Doesn’t sound very healthy to me (especially when the championship leader cant even set his own bike up to finish higher than 14th).

(and im assuming you started the thread to profess your love of superbikes over gp’s but feel free to correct me)

  6. LOL you cant be serious.

  7. "when the championship leader cant even set his own bike up to finish higher than 14th"

Oh come off it, you are getting desperate now ? in that case how did your 6x world champ do at any GP this year ?

I started the thread not to see who watched what or who likes what, it was a serious question, was Moto GP still the premier class and how long could it hold that title with lack of British and American riders support, lack of major manafactureres support ? and basically promoting a dying genera of motorcycling ie road race bikes.
Manufacturers use racing to promote the brand, given the sports bike market is shrinking by the year i can under stand promoting much cheaper BSB/WSB but really the market now depends on Adventure bikes. I think i read Triumph who are the biggest selling brand in the UK are less that 20% race rep style now.

  8. @Paddy Barratt

Triumph don't sell race reps to my knowledge?

Aren't Ducati having exceptionally strong sales across their range at the moment? I'm sure their racing success translates to sales across the range and not just for their superbikes/race reps.

If the question is whether MotoGP is still the premier class then yes, obviously. It has the best riders on exotic machinery that you can't buy. At least a MotoGP bike still looks somewhat like a bike, unlike F1.

  9. Not getting desperate for anything lol my stance remains as its always been moto gp >>>wsb>>>bsb

Where do you think Tommy Bridewell would come in a wsb wildcard outside of england?

Its a nice spectacle when the big boys arent on but hardly anywhere near the pinnacle of motorcycle racing.

And im not a corporate nonentity either thank you very much ;)

  10. Triumph Speed triple 765 GP2. Admittedly a limited edition but definitely a race rep. Andy

  11. I can go into a dealer and order a new one? If you mean the Moto2 edition of the Street Triple then I don't really consider a naked bike to be a race rep.

  12. TB had 2 rides on a Go Eleven Ducati as a replacement for Eugene Laverty in 2019 at Imola and Jerez. Did okay on a bike that was a similar spec to his Moto Rapido BSB bike, he scored points. Andy

  13. Someone I know has recently ordered their second one. Andy

  14. Surprised you can still order a new one - maybe get someone's cancelled order. Regardless, not a race rep in my eyes.

  15. I didnt say they dont make a race rep/sports bike, i just said over 80% or Triumphs aren't :)

  16. Hmmm... sneaky. I guess the devil's in the details.

Nonetheless, it's interesting that Triumph view their involvement with Moto2 as being so worthwhile that they've continued with it, despite selling no race reps. I've no doubt that it must help sales of the triples but I don't think that Triumph as a brand are really associated with racing for the vast majority of punters. Personally, I view the brand as retro stuff and a fun road bike, regardless of their Moto2 involvement.

Now if they would bring out a Moto2 track rep that could be rather interesting... Something like KTM have done (I'm very tempted to get a RC-8C or Kramer GP2-890RR).

  17. WSB come a long way in 4 years depth of field wise, id be amazed and agog if he got anywhere near the top 10 in 2024.

  18. TB has to find a team that are prepared to provide him with the opportunity first. He still carries a fair bit of baggage with his abrasive personality and questionable team building skills and he’ll need to bring a significant amount of cash to the table too. IMO, he will need time to become accustomed to WSBK spec electronics, something they don’t have in BSB and time is not something he has on his side. Andy

  19. I was referring to the wild cards he's supposedly asked "Birdy" to provide him.

"2 maybe even 3 rounds but on a WSB specced bike" he told Shakey at Thruxton last weekend.

  20. Ah, haven’t watched any of it on telly so missed that. Not sure how easy (if at all) it would be to convert a BSB spec bike to make it competitive at WSBK level but perhaps, if Beer Monster continues to sponsor PB, we’ll find out. Andy
