1260 Antigravity At12bs-rs

  1. Is anyone here running the Antigravity AT12BS-RS (360CA model, not the 480CA model) on their Multi?

I'm looking to upgrade, in the hopes that a stronger CA battery will make starts less cumbersome / sketchy.

I've been advised the following by a very knowledgeable Ducati mechanic:

"The cranking power of the battery has no effect on the CAN line. It's the capacitance that the battery has to help the charging system have smooth voltage. If the battery has a circuit in it to open up if the voltage is too high, that would be very bad!"

So, is anyone running an AT12BS-RS on their Multi, and if yes, any issues?

  2. I have JMT LiPoFe in my track Multistrada 1200 and had no issues. The specs look similar. Andy

  3. I have two of those: one in the Monster 1200R and one in the 1260 Multi PP since day 1. An OEM swap was part of the sales deal.
No issues and no need for a tender while in winter hibernation as long as the negative is disconnected to avoid parasitic draw.

  4. also have a JMT one and has been good. Needs a tender after a few weeks if you have any sort of tracker on there. But I’d hook any battery up tbh. A handy 4kg off the bike ain’t a bad thing.

  5. Wow, is that an accurate saving on weight over the oem battery? 4kg is a great saving.

  6. Yep, about that. Maybe 3.5kg. A stock Yuasa weighs in at an about 4.5kg. And most liPo will be .8-.9.

makes a huge difference with car batteries, can easily remove 25kg :upyeah:

  7. According to both manufacturer's specifications:
The OEM Yuasa YT12B-BS weighs in at exactly 9 lbs (4.08 kg) *
The Antigravity AT12BS-HD (480 ca) weighs in at exactly 2.9 lb (1.31 kg). **
For a weight saving of 6.1 lb (2.77 kg) at the MTS's high center of gravity.

*No mention if that includes water.
**AG also offers the lighter 2.3 lbs (1.04 kg) non-HD (360 ca) version.

  8. JMT here as well, on all 3 of mine...only ever lost one (on the zed) after a head on collision with a focus...recovery took it away to assess it and left the key in the ignition and, left it on....that killed it. Hyper and RSV4 have had the same one i bought about 5 years ago..ish and are still fine....3 years on the current JMT in the zed.
