Race direction making some strange decisions again. Inside line, not running wide, in control, half a bike length in front…other rider makes contact…long lap penalty in next race. Genuine race incident imo. Really, if anyone, it was Fabio. But so many bikes arriving at that tight corner at the same time. Vinales bad start also meant things were bunched up..
Can we start a petition for getting the a ring taken off the calendar pls? Zzzzzz (although the m3 race was decent admittedly). Such a snooze fest. Hard to not see M2 and MGP being done now even though we’re only halfway through the season. Pol, rider of the weekend?
Maverick’s starts are just bat shit mental. Imagine what he could achieve if he sorted them out one day.
Since his good showing with Yamaha ‘one’ season, he has shown a complete lack of consistency. Old (but talented) Aleix has kept him honest. Oliveira would probably be ahead if he had not had such rotten luck this season. Maverick needs always to have all of the stars aligned just right. Loving how much talent we have on track at the moment! J Martin did well, starting from 12th and having a long lap penalty. Nearly got back in the mix. Well done. Never seen anyone get a penalty from being half a bike length in front in a corner, in control and on the right line…but I am sure race direction always get things right. No long lap for Fabio from the incident. Hmm. KTM done the right thing with Binder. Talented racer. Zarco off to Honda…I think? Bez to stay with VR46, again, I think, but sure I heard the commentator say that.
What is the feeling about Jack Miller and his future. obviouslty a decent rider but will never win a title. He is miles off the in the title race or top 3 spots. A lot of riders are losing thier jobs or going to bikes that are not as good. young talent coming up etc. is he in his last season or 2 in GPs. I am not hating on him, i really like Jack and it is good to have a guy like that in the sport.
I get the feeling he is hard on his tyres, likes to drift the back end, but this is not good over race distance? He has ability though and has brought a lot to the KTM team. Maybe a development rider role but not a factory seat?
We really do, and the top 18 riders split by less than a second in qualifying, really highlights what a sensational job Pecco's doing.
I agree about the penalty for Martin being a tad unfair. It just looked like a racing incident with everyone wanting the same space and he wasn't out of control. A great ride by him despite that. Peso's times through the race were exceptionally consistent - the best at anything make it look easy but you could tell he was pushing hard to the end. I don't recall seeing him make one mistake. I'd like to see Miller learn to manage his tyres a bit better, assuming that's the reason for him getting himself in good positions and then spending the race going backwards. Moto2 was entertaining as well.
Re: Miller, I cant think how it can be anything except tyres for the way he drops places after half race distance. We used to see it with Lorenzo when he could not make the Ducati work, blistering for a few laps…then dropping like a stone as he had destroyed the tyres. All of the top riders are not only quick, they manage their tyres. What a difference though in results for the two KTM boys! Binder looking better every race.
Just watched the sprint race again and that first turn incident started with Vinales and his god awful start and then arriving in the first corner like a big bag of wet cement and everyone else having no where to go..clearly not pushinable but definitely a contributor to the incident. And that corners going to really hurt someone soon. Seem to see bikes clattering into riders every time we go there.
