Hi all! I have a decatted 2019 M797 whuch runs very lean & very sketchy throttle response at low/mid revs! Has anyone fitted a Rapid Bike Easy module and what differences has it made? Thanks in advance! Alan
I cant speak for a monster, but fitted a RB Evo to my 1299 and its fuelling is pretty good now. You have to run it for 500 miles or so for it to learn and adjust.
Hi bootsam! Thanks for the info! The evo is a little bit of a smarter module than the Easy module! The Easy is a very basic module and is the only option available for the 797 Monster sadly! Its not clever enough to learn its best values whilst riding! Its pretty much preset! But it is really my only option from what I can see, apart from the T800 / UpMap which is around £500 and for that type of cost I think Id rather just change the bike to something a little more rider friendly! Maybe I'll just take a punt on the easy module which is around £150 and if its still not great after, time to upgrade Im thinking!
I have a Rapid Bike Easy Module fitted to my S1000RR for my slip on SC Project MotoGP stubby exhaust. Works beautifully - I got it to remove the lean fuel settings in the mid-range that BMW had to do to achieve the Euro 4 restrictions, it removed the flat spot between 4-6K revs. I bought one for my Scrambler DS too, but it threw a MIL light on cold days - however the MIL light would disappear after 24 hours but it was still a pain as the dashboard was dominated by the word ENGINE. Their tech support team responded in 24 hours and told me to make a setting change on one of the dials, problem went away and it removed that low rev throttle snatch and made the engine rev much more smoothly.
Thank you Steve for the reply! I need to cure the snatchy on/off throttle whilst riding at lower revs in and out of traffic! Also, the flat spots mid range too! I think I will take a punt and get one hoping it improves it somewhat!
Hiya Bettes! Yes, I agree a remap would be best option, but sadly, only place I have found that can do this particular bike in the UK, is absolutely miles away and want the bike for a week to remap and dyno! They are an excellent tuning company but I'd have to have a week away to get them to do it! So price of accommodation plus price of remap/dyno, far exceeds what I think is worth spending on it in relation to any gains from the tune! Cheers! Alan
BSD Tuning in Peterborough is the only company I can find that say they can do it, and I have phoned just about every tuning company I can find, and I keep getting sa.e answer: "Our software doesn't support this bike/ecu"
Ok, Alan. I was just wondering why… I had my 959 / 1299 re mapped at P3 Tuning in Liverpool and they were very good. If you haven’t tried them already, it might be worth it. GL!
But they are even further away from you! But they do offer a postal service where you just send them the ecu…
Try Junction 33, they’re even further than @bettes post. They may however have already mapped a Monster, they get constantly good reviews on the KTM 790 page for their remaps.
I spoke to Andy at Jnc33 and CJS and both said no software for monster 797! Only 1200 monster! Thanks for suggestions though everyone! Will give P3 a shout after the Bank Holiday to see if they can do via post!
Just spoke to P3 tuning in Liverpool who have said they could do it, but again, I would need to get the bike to them for a while, and as they are the opposite end of the country to me, that's a non-starter! No ecu postal remap service available for this Bike sadly!
It works by fooling the ECU with the O2 reading from the O2 sensors, such that you get the optimum amount of fuel injected into the cylinder to achieve the correct O2 readings on the exhaust. Because it is dynamic, you should get the correct fuelling all the time. I didn't have my BMW S1000RR remapped as I only added a slip on can and didn't decat the bike so I chose the simple solution and used a Rapid Bike Easy as it also didn't invalidate my BMW warranty, but I have a Triumph Daytona 955i and had a dyno tune made for me by Steve Jordan's team near Leatherhead. I had an underseat exhaust added and they modified an existing Triumph OEM Map and I got good mid-range and top end tune for the exhaust, it is beautiful and smooth as they spent all morning doing it whilst I waited. The Steve Jordan tune cost me £400 about 5 years ago. They mention Ducati dyno tune, but not the Monster - they're based near Leatherhead and you can find them here
Hiya! Just spoke to Jordons and they can't do my bike apart from fitting a power commander, which I don't want! Tha ks for the contact anyway!
