The M7RR is my all time favourite scratching tyre for the Multistrada When Metzeler launched the M9RR, I did try them but wasn’t blown away by them if that makes sense. It’s a very good tyre, certainly has better life than the M7RR but for me (totally subjective and personal opinion) they lacked that on edge confidence the M7RR gives me. Also a bargain at £260 for the pair fitted. Looking forward to France as we will have 4 days with no luggage Andy
Lightweight wheels removed from the track bike. A trip to my tyre man for new sports touring rubber. Stock wheels removed from the road bike and the lightweight wheels with new rubber fitted. Just got time to scrub them in before heading off to France for a week of touring and eating Andy
Cleared up the garage, stuck a load of stuff in the loft. Stood there and wondered how I’m going to arrange 4 bikes. The wife IS NOT impressed apparently.
Tried to fire up the Monster 937 for a pre ride out check over and for the second time, the battery was on the discharge cycle of the battery maintainer. Can’t be arsed with that any more so fitted a LiPoFe battery instead. It starts fine now. Andy
After negotiating a cracking deal on the Akra exhaust system and racing belly pan with the lovely people at Ducati Cambridge, I’ve striped the bike ready to start installing same.

Neil, the guy who sold me the soot pipes, last words to me as we ended our phone call was “no matter what the instructions say, remove the sub-frame” First time trying VO2’s after crashing on Dunlop KR’s last time out. Liked them overall but did have a couple slides from the rear, I’m not the quickest mind, managed a 1:45 best lap last time out at Donington, the lads I was with were dipping in the 1:40’s
Took the bike out for a run to scrub the new tyres in, got 200 yards down my road, pulled away from a T-junction and got unceremoniously dumped on the floor. Rear just went away from me and I low sided and slid 20 feet up the road I’m a bit battered and bruised, my right leg got trapped under the bike and twisted my knee as my foot wanted to go in a different direction.The bike didn’t quite get off so lightly. Crash bars did their job ….. almost, they got bent into the bodywork so tank side panel and air intake side panel are scrap, right hand, hand guard is scrap, front brake lever ball end is ground down, rear brake lever totally buggered, rider’s foot rest snapped clean off and rear brake light switch snapped. The R&G clutch case protector I had fitted at the service worked a treat, as did their front axle bobbins and the Roadskins jeans were virtually unmarked. Just spent the last 5 hours swapping out the damaged bits but am finally stumped by the rear brake light being permanently illuminated. Time for a beer and a sulk Andy

First time I've been on my arse for a long time. Still can't get my head around how quickly the bike went down. Pretty sure I'll feel shit tomorrow but it is what it is and you have to move on. I'm off to France in just under 2 weeks Andy
I changed a rear tyre for a guy with a bmw, the last thing I said to him was watch the tyre. Turned right after 50 metres and down he went. Slippery stuff the release compound they use on tyre manufacturing....
Really sorry to hear this tale of woe Andy, but glad that you're in reasonable shape after the impacts. The bike can of course be fixed and no doubt how ever many times you go over the situation in your head, it won't change anything! Perhaps the next time, maybe think about rubbing down the entire tyre surface with sandpaper to roughen up the surface and make a little difference to the new tyre area, with removing some of the release compound. It's something I do whenever possible, and so far............ Easy to suggest now. Good luck with the repairs of the bike as well as yourself.
